The history of extrajudicial violence in the U.S. dates to before the founding. It's primarily affected women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ people. Read! A! History! Book!

And can we acknowledge the utter stupidity of this? There is no such thing as a "male hormone." Testosterone and estrogen and all other hormones are found in all human bodies, no matter their designated sex. Birth control pills are a form of hormone therapy. So is Rogaine. This is dumb!

You could do worse than Cynthia Enloe’s “Bananas, Beaches and Bases” for some 20c history of U.S. extractivist military imperialism, especially in the Americas.

Currently writing book about this (gay) artist. J. C. Leyendecker, cover of Success magazine, December 1900. Trained in Chicago and Paris, Leyendecker was capable of beautifully decorative and ornate imagery for books, mags, posters, and ads.

I'm not a tax-ologist but one way the obscenely rich could have an immediate effect is to start giving large, restricted (to direct instruction cost) donations to public colleges and universities. The Ivies don't need anymore of of your money!

1. Feminism is not a *thing.* It's a conversation over time having many different voices.
2. Feminism is primarily a project of women for women. How could "it" have failed them?
3. Globally, women and girls have more rights, security, wealth, education, and power than ever. How is this failure?

Here’s the thing: her “beliefs” are irrelevant. Students can “believe” anything they want but I grade submitted work based on demonstrated learning of assigned course materials. A student’s “beliefs” are really none of my business.

The banned topics at Texas Tech only show that conservative critics really have no idea what's happening in classes that include those topics. It's partisan political policy, not the outcome of any serious inquiry into teaching and learning. Students will find it tarnishes and cheapens their degree.

I’ve been teaching WGS courses for 20 years and almost nothing I teach would be affected by this. (The “two sexes” b.s. is not factual and would be a problem.) That’s because what I actually do in the classroom is so poorly understood by those who wrote this memo.

Already cut off all donations to my graduate alma mater (WashU) for how they treated pro-Palestinian activists last year. This would rise to a whole different level…
