I recently took the train through the rural Portugal and Spain and you see 10 story buildings near train stations in towns with a population of like 10k. Town in the screenshot is several times smaller than Davis and farther from any city as big as Sac

(ii) At least 10 percent of the total units, as defined in subparagraph (A) of paragraph (9) of subdivision (o) of Section 65915, are dedicated to very low income households, as defined in Section 50105 of the Health and Safety Code. (iii) At least 13 percent of the total units, as defined in subparagraph (A) of paragraph (9) of subdivision (o) of Section 65915, are dedicated to lower income households, as defined in Section 50079.5 of the Health and Safety Code.

This is a great piece with lots of in-depth, high-quality reporting. But what's with this random dig at housing bills that doesn't explain what the bills are, why they're bad, or that they are being championed by several of the LGBT rights advocates interviewed in the article?
Liberal housing advocates moved forward deregulatory measures that they claim could lower housing costs by helping corporate developers build more housing. But these measures could take years to lower housing costs, if ever, and fail to address immediate material needs specific to the trans community.

This article is about the Olympics but it really lays bare CA leaders' tepid, weak, and visionless response to Trump's military occupation of our state and ongoing assault on our neighbors and our civil rights.
Such willful denial was on full display at the California state legislature's Senate Special Committee on International Sporting Events, which held its first hearing earlier this month. The committee is chaired by State Senator Ben Allen, who represents some of the wealthiest communities in California, and who told the Los Angeles Daily News back in May that he wasn't worried about Trump mounting a local immigration crackdown. (That reallllly did not age well.) During the hearing, which was happening as Ventura County farmworkers engaged in a 12-hour standoff with ICE agents that left one farmworker dead, Allen described the ongoing siege as, simply, "tensions with the federal government." Even the co-chair, State Senator María Elena Durazo, who spoke later that night at a nonviolent direct-action training at LA's convention center attended by over 1,000 people, only obliquely alluded to what was happening in her district — even though the U.S. military had invaded a park to terrorize her constituents just days before.

I love ornamentation on buildings and think it should be legalized where possible, but pseudo-historic buildings often look way worse than historic examples. My city forces a lot of buildings to be built in a pseudo-Mission style which instead results in what I call "Taco Bell Revival". Super tacky.

We can't let 'Abundance' transfer SF's cursed political fights to the national level where they don't apply. Nationally, the Groups, while flawed, are the main defense against the fascist attacks on civil liberties, environmental protections, science, and minority rights. Not everything is housing!

This statement from Newsom is really unacceptable. Giving special status to cis girls who lose against trans girls isn't "reasonable, respectful" - it validates and codifies reactionary gender frameworks and degenders trans athletes. Trans women are women.
