Climate action saves the world $1,000 trillion USD over the next century compared to business as usual. It is not fiscally responsible or sensible to ignore climate change!

Urbanism is existential for democracy and to uplift the working class.

I recently took the train through the rural Portugal and Spain and you see 10 story buildings near train stations in towns with a population of like 10k. Town in the screenshot is several times smaller than Davis and farther from any city as big as Sac

That is incorrect. SB 79 does mandate affordable housing units. legiscan.com/CA/text/SB79...

This is a great piece with lots of in-depth, high-quality reporting. But what's with this random dig at housing bills that doesn't explain what the bills are, why they're bad, or that they are being championed by several of the LGBT rights advocates interviewed in the article?

What would demands look like? Here are some ideas from rank and file autoworkers, though they should probably be updated to focus more on political democracy.

This article is about the Olympics but it really lays bare CA leaders' tepid, weak, and visionless response to Trump's military occupation of our state and ongoing assault on our neighbors and our civil rights.

I love ornamentation on buildings and think it should be legalized where possible, but pseudo-historic buildings often look way worse than historic examples. My city forces a lot of buildings to be built in a pseudo-Mission style which instead results in what I call "Taco Bell Revival". Super tacky.

So far Chris has a slim lead! Very early stages but huge improvement over Fall 2024, where he lost by 15%

Scenes from #NoKings in Riverside. Huge peaceful turnout, also huge and unnecessary turnout of Bianco's sheriffs.

Hundreds of people in Laguna Beach, at the same park full of Trump 2024 and Recall Newsom booths in years past.

68% of Inland Empire voters support California High Speed Rail. IE residents will see immediate benefit once CAHSR reaches LA, and Phase 2 will transform transportation in the region. @jackson835.bsky.social

SBCTA is spending the equivalent of the entire Omnitrans bus budget on one highway interchange. Highway spending is impoverishing us all.

We can't let 'Abundance' transfer SF's cursed political fights to the national level where they don't apply. Nationally, the Groups, while flawed, are the main defense against the fascist attacks on civil liberties, environmental protections, science, and minority rights. Not everything is housing!

This statement from Newsom is really unacceptable. Giving special status to cis girls who lose against trans girls isn't "reasonable, respectful" - it validates and codifies reactionary gender frameworks and degenders trans athletes. Trans women are women.

By contrast, California's emissions have decreased by about 10% since 1990 levels.
