A lot of what we refer to as "woo" is barely disguised European folk remedies and/or Aristotelian medicine. Hardly universal or objective, but hardly challenging Euro supremacy either.

They only need like a 10 ft track extension and are working on it. But yeah mostly a scheduling, not an infra issue:

Let's not forget that in white collar work everyone important had a secretary you could outsource your executive function to.

In this day and age it's probably more of a liability than a benefit, unless you are applying for an MFA or something like that which really emphasizes authenticity.

I think a personal history statement is a rebranded diversity statement.

Sure, but rent + transportation costs can pencil out to be higher living in a suburb than car-free in a city.

Emergency car repairs can also end up costing more than rent if you're low income (and have cheap-ish rents + old car). Rare but non-trivial occurrence.

CA's peak transit tract is also the highest density tract in this list. Part of Westlake, the densest neighborhood in LA after K-Town, it is largely Latino with an abundance of street vendors. Only a 5-min train ride from DTLA, its interminable poverty shows the paltry appeal of LA's historic core

I've seen vegetarian cookbooks from the 70's and 80's. That stuff is ass.

I think we've already made huge progress on this compared to the 90's (when being vegetarian meant eating only potatoes in a lot of places). Question is if this trajectory can continue with right-wing outrage politics.

Afik a lot of the issue with meat is the land use, with land used for meat preventing afforestation or shifting land to carbon negative uses - not sure how that fits into the calculations. Even if we, say, completely decarbonize fertilizers that's still an issue.

Do you have a quantitative sense of how much meat reduction would be needed? Like is everyone eats meat only one meal a day sufficient? 20% of the US goes vegan? Or is it more dramatic than that? Bc these options would not require radical cultural/political change imo
