Perfect image portraying the moment when cosplaying meets reality.
"I'm a real fighter." - delusional influencer.
"LOL, LMAO even." - actual fighter.

I'm not going deny that the reader/viewer can see more than what was intended by the writers (I've annoyed many people by suggesting Captain America: Civil War was an apologia for George W Bush's foreign policy), but it should reconsidered when said writer explicitly shoots down that notion.

This is part of the problem about bringing your own ideas into the work before engaging fully with what was written. I don't have to see myself in the story to appreciate it, and if anything it opens myself more to the rest of the world by seeing through the eyes of someone else.

Yes you can to the first question, no to the second.
Imbuing your perspective into art isn't always bad, but it does somewhat limit the empathy that the piece may be trying to inspire. To some degree you should be trying to understand what message they're trying to convey before you impart your own.

I'm pointing out that the reader/viewer ascribing their own feelings into a work of fiction can misjudge what the author had intended. Not saying that there's only their view to it, but it's just as likely if not more that this is the case than the author missing a hidden message within their work.

And I don't consider Publius great art. After major revelations about the dietary habits of the converted and the fate of humanity, they then basically ignored that and went to Carol's collapse into loneliness. That's just a poor continuation of narrative flow and a hodgepodge assembly of episodes.
December 20, 2025 at 1:59 PM
We agree on that, that's why great art is timeless. It appeals to core of human existence that's not overtaken by daily fads or distractions.
My problem with Publius, and your interpretation of it, is that I don't think it's great or even middling art. Interesting premise that's meandered aimlessly.

Or it's an example of people forcing their interests and fixations on material that is deliberately not about that.
Sometimes the author misses the subtext they didn't perceive. Other times some in the audience bring their baggage with them, being so focused on it.
I'm leaning to the latter here.

It's more of an exaggeration to say you were rationalizing it versus someone calling Nacua a 'huge anti-semite.'
Far more likely he's a huge dumbass cause he's a 24 year old professional football player who doesn't think deeply about anyone or anything other than football.
December 18, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Considering this happened days after Bondi Beach, this isn't a surprise. To many, the perception of anti-semitism is a greater stigma than the actual actions of the israeli government and its officials. That the two are continually conflated remains a constant barrier in improving life in Gaza.

What I find remarkable about this story is that alleged Canadians are siding with the israeli officials who imposed contemptible conditions on Canadian MPs that were trying to enter the West Bank, not israel.
The inability to see how that's just a glaring example of an unjust occupation...

It's not that it slowed things down that annoyed me, it's that they basically ignored the revelations from the last episode. Aww, you got the sads cause you're alone. How does that override what you now know about humanity's future!?!?
I'm really souring on her character and the show in general.

Wasn't as fluid as Barry, but this was Sanders-esque in terms of change of direction.

Maye's improved from 2024, but really hasn't faced an elite defence, thrown for over 300 yards, or forced to carry the load to bring his team back from a big deficit.
Stafford not only deserves it, it should be unanimous. Rams would be 11-1 if they had a reliable kicker.
December 3, 2025 at 12:36 AM
For me it's his numerous fourth quarter comebacks he's led this season. Just clutch when it counts most.
Oh yeah, forgot.
He hasn't had to do that once this season because, yes, playing a soft schedule has made his life easy.
Meanwhile Matt Stafford has his team going 6-2 against playoff teams.

Is the 2K curse for running backs real?
Saquon is having an embarrassingly bad season even for that trend, but there doesn't seem to be a RB who escapes having a massively down year after that.
Hell even a 2K combined yards for scrimmage takes a toll, with McCaffrey being the most notable example.

And this is why Tom Brady was the better QB. Rodgers is far more physically gifted, but Brady was always the maniac who enjoyed the game/competition more than any sane person should.
Which goes to show how insane Brady was at 45 to continue taking those hits. Imagine Arod being the less crazy one...

Aren't you assuming that pro-lifers who also oppose the death penalty don't exist?
November 29, 2025 at 1:46 AM
Shouldn't the amount of time remaining be a big mitigating factor? Falcons/Cowboys had 5 minutes, here it was 3. In both situations they had their full complement of timeouts, and Dallas got the ball back with less than 2 minutes. If it played out the same, there simply isn't enough time.

Alternative take, there are no good pies.
They're the minor leagues of desserts. Almost every other cooked confectionery is better.

Blech.
Pies are for throwing, not eating.
The worst cake is better than the best pie.

Ray Rice was the last player who suffered real consequences for harming a woman. And even then it took a lot of outrage over the initial short suspension.
The NFL simply doesn't care.

Is the question not whether he breaks the sack record, but by how much?
18 so far, 13 in the past 5 games, with 6 games to go, going over 25 seems like a lower projection.
