Last night, two unaccompanied minors were evacuated from our SW5 to Italy due to urgent medical reasons. Today, a mother and her daughter are being transferred to Sicily as well. Fleeing over the sea is incredibly dangerous – no one should have to wait days for safety on land!

This morning, our colleague Mary was abducted by Israeli Forces in international waters while sailing to break the illegal siege on Gaza. She was on the boat Conscience with mostly journalists & medical workers. We call for the immediate release of the crew & end to the genocide!

On the way north, the crew was alerted twice to other distress cases. Both times, we altered the course, but we did not find the boats. Bad weather, signal loss, or interceptions could explain why. Our solidarity goes to everyone who died or went missing at Europe’s borders.

Overnight from Sunday to Monday, our Sea-Watch 5 crew rescued 79 people who were left to die by Europe’s deterrence policies. Their assigned port is La Spezia – meaning they won’t reach safety until Friday. No one should have to wait days for safety after surviving the sea.

Unsere Solidarität gilt allen Lieben der ertrunkenen Personen. Unsere Wut gilt der italienischen und europäischen Politik – sie gilt all den Politiker:innen, die über Leichen gehen, um ihre politischen Ziele zu erreichen!

In Niger, people on the move are protesting peacefully for 365+ days for the protection of their rights. Many were pushed back illegally and are now stuck in inhumane and EU-funded camps. @unhcr.org –an EU-externalization ally– does not help. Read more: @refugeesinlibya.bsky.social's Book of Shame!

A leaked document confirms the EU is still backing deterrence efforts, even though they know this money goes to human rights abusers. The EU has been funding Libyan militias for a long time. Just days ago, they fired on our Sea-Watch 5. Read more here: https://euobserver.com/migration/areb944fcf

After an intense weekend that included being shot at by the so-called Libyan coastguard and rescuing 124 people, we disembarked safely in Naples and are already heading back into the Mediterranean. Fair winds and following seas!

The survivors in Panic climbed aboard the nearby merchant vessel MARIDIVE to hide, but were handed over by their crew to the so-called coastguard. We do not have words to describe our grief and anger!

Libyan militias chase people in distress - one person drowned!

Yesterday, the so-called Libyan coastguard tried to force people back to Libya and chased them through the sea. When people fell into the water, they left them to die. One person drowned. This is murder!

After the armed attack by a Libyan militia with survivors on board, we rescued another boat in distress. With 124 survivors now on board our Sea-Watch 5, we ended the last night together with a dinner. We're nearing Napoli to bring everyone safely ashore.

We address our words to Germany & the EU: You are funding these Libyan militias — and with your money, people feeling and civil rescue ships are being fired upon! Luckily, no one was injured. We are now on our way to bring the survivors to safety. [4/4]

The Libyan vessel Corrubia Class 660, was handed over by Italy to the so-called Libyan coastguard in 2018. It has already fired during past rescues. Just one month ago, the Ocean Viking operated by was also shot at.[3/4]

We immediately sent out a Mayday relay and informed the relevant authorities and the German federal police. Shortly after, the aircraft Eagle 2 arrived and confirmed the Libyan vessel remained only a few miles behind us.[2/4]

🚨 Sea-Watch 5 under fire while rescuing 66 people at sea.
At night, we were threatened by a Libyan militia vessel and ordered to leave “their waters.” Minutes after everyone was safely on board, a shot was fired. 👉 sea-watch.org/en/libyan-militia-fires-on-rescue-ship-sea-watch-5

We stand in solidarity with the #GlobalSumudFlotilla. They have faced multiple attacks in the last 24 hours, while trying to deliver food, medicine and other goods to the people in Gaza.

Journalists like @mathildamall.bsky.social are aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla.

Their mission is simple: deliver food, medicine and other essentials to Palestinians in occupied Gaza, who are still trapped under Israel’s unlawful blockade.

93 people are currently trapped on an oil supply vessel, among them 3 pregnant women and 7 children! There is a high danger that they are brought illegally to Libya. LIBYA IS NOT SAFE! Italy has to rescue now!

Fortress Europe kills. An iron boat was about to sink about 83 km off Lampedusa. One woman died, and another is missing. About 50 survivors were rescued & the body of the deceased was recovered with help from the civili rescue ship Dakini. Our Seabird crew provided air support.

Three years have passed since the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini which sparked the social movement to draw global attention to the struggles of Iranian women, especially those from Kurdistan. Solidarity remains a regime’s greatest fear.

The same governments that let people drown at sea are complicit in the massacre in #Gaza. The same drones used to push people back into Libyan torture camps are tested in the killing of Palestinians. Our solidarity is with those who resist this state violence: Hands off the #Sumudflotilla

We condemn yesterday’s attack on the #GlobalSumudFlotilla and oppose all state violence in the Mediterranean! Our solidarity is with the flotilla: the massacres in the Mediterranean and in Palestine are interconnected. No one is free until everyone is free!
