A number of the ebooks I read have them; I imagine it just depends on the publisher to put them in. My last Libby borrow - here you can see real page 6 starting, though it's number 26 of my large-print screens. Unfortunately, the "go to page..." in my ereader app uses the latter.

Most TTS systems either sound robotic or attempt to deepfake a real human voice. I'm working on a chaotic text-to-speech web app that intersperses one- and two-word sound quotes throughout. The Echololiac - encyclopaedia-fortuita.com/echololiac/

Got a new eReader - a Boox Page, which I put Koreader on - to replace my old Pocketbook, which was great for letting me read English and German with big fonts but just could not handle Japanese dictionary usage. Smaller than I expected (I have no sense of scale), but so far liking it.

This weekend we went to see Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in a most excellent format: laser light show!

A small sampling of the Halloween decorations in our neighborhood; I feel like there is a marked increase in decorations this year in terms of both quantity and quality.

I haven’t knit anything in a long time. Trying to make “Flip-Flop Winter Socks.” First time using a Turkish Cast-On.

From 「三省堂国語辞典から消えたことば辞典」(The Dictionary of Words that have Disappeared from the Sanseido Dictionary), both “laserdisc” and “lexicographer” were removed with the Seventh Edition (2014). I feel attacked by that edition😋

One of the places I will be visiting in October is the Toshio Kashio Memorial Museum of Invention, and I wanted to make sure they know I’m a real Casio fanboy (beyond the electronic dictionary that will be in my bag), so got a cheap watch tonight (and this way I have a good alarm clock).

Was going to post a tiny animation I made while lying in bed, but it looks like those aren’t supported on here yet 😞
