Pep is objectively correct. On average, Israel kills 35 children every day in Gaza. With Israel blocking most food aid, around a quarter of all Gaza residents were suffering from famine in August. Together, this constitutes genocide, according to the International Association of Genocide Scholars

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken out strongly on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing it as a “genocide in real time” and urging people across the world to mobilise and pressure governments into action.

The Guardian reports that the potential UEFA suspension of Israel to be voted on this week *would not include World Cup qualifiers.* This is because the World Cup qualifiers are governed in collaboration with FIFA who resists such a ban.

Uefa is expected to avoid trying to block Israel from World Cup qualifying as the European governing body considers measures against the country’s football association.

Under plans being worked out by Uefa that are expected to be voted on by its executive committee this week, the Guardian understands Israel would be banned only from competitions that Uefa directly controls. That means the Israel men’s and women’s national teams would be excluded from the Nations League and Maccabi Tel Aviv would be removed from the Europa League this season.

I’m hearing a few things about the potential expulsion of Israel from UEFA:

1. No meeting has been scheduled yet, although many of the FAs are pushing for it.

2. The original push came from one person in one FA.

3. Things have changed because FAs have realigned with new gov’t positions on 🇮🇱

It appears that there is an increasingly high chance Israel will be banned next week from UEFA due to its genocide in Gaza, which would in turn effectively end its hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.

I have heard this independently confirmed from another source.
