Failed artist, but still trying it.

Also the gifs are a lot of modern meme material like oiiaoiia, icarly, Miku, etc. It's wild seeing them crunched down for little banner gifs

Thank you!

I know, right!? I want to do an old-net site just for fun. As she goes through the sites I noticed there's so many new words for things. Like they have 'stickers,' 'blinkies.' Pretty sure we just called them banners/gifs, but they're serving multi-purposes now. I say go for it and redesign! :D

100%. He was my teacher, so it's not like we were having varied conversation to begin with. But I think he was the type of person always talking about work / starting a business.

Yuup! Soul-sucking existence.

That's a good question! He was a 'hustle and grind' type of guy before that was a thing. Had a full-time job on top of being a part-time adjunct with our school. Not sure he had many friends who weren't co-workers. Hopefully for his sake he changed.

Idk if it's true, but I swear when I take longer breaks I sometimes come back way better than I left. Somehow. So I say take your breaks :P

We all need peace. I hope things get better for you soon. Whatever skills you have aren't lost - they'll be there when you're healed.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm going through similar. It's very frustrating, and that added stress doesn't help. Artists already put too much pressure on ourselves, and the idea that we can still work at the same level while suffering leads to more suffering.

Yeah, depending on the emotion I can do therapeutic art. And yeah, very difficult to improve when you're just trying to survive.
November 22, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Yeah, you can turn it into something better. But later on when you're out of it. Or when you find a pocket of peace.

Also this looks really good! Thanks for sharing. I've heard a lot of good things about Alan Wake.

Yep. When it's emotional misery, sometimes I need to write. But it isn't good - it's bitter, not self-aware. It's good notes for later on when I'm in a better state. If it's circumstantial misery - struggling to make ends meet - it's harder to function at all. Closer to survival mode there.

Stress cuts off creativity. I think you can use your struggles and pain to make good art, but at a later time when you're not actively in pain.
