Fire Emblem: Engage Rarepair Week, 300 drabble

Day 3: Location

Fogado/Céline.

The two are on a lovely date in the verdant fields of Firene. Is it an actual normal date with no talks of politics? Or does a normal date of theirs incorporate politics???

“Now this is the sort of tea worth establishing trade for!”

“Did we only come here to talk trade? That is quite an odd definition of a date.”

Fogado grins one of his rare genuine playful ones at Céline as he lounges on the picnic carpet. The verdant fields of Firene sway every time a light sough blows through, and some flowers known as dandelions catch a ride along with them.

“Come on Céline: I know you love striking at an opportunity,” he reminds her with a knowing glint in his eyes that most would deem charming, but Céline knows is dangerously intelligent.

She cocks a brow at him, and fails to hide her drolly amused smile. “Is it so unbelievable that I wish to have an actual date?”

He puckers his lips in mock deep thought, punctuated by him putting his hands behind his head. “Well~ whenever we’re usually around we talk politics and stuff, and you did remind me of Firene’s robust farming industry on the way here.”

“Only because I am trying to make conversation with my boyfriend about a country he has never been to before.”

Okay, he cannot help but get a little mushy at her casually referring to him as ‘boyfriend’: with the way his cheeks darken and his playful nature dissipating. And of course with the way she smirks in triumph means she noticed.

“What would it take to convince you this is an innocent date?” she asks like she’s doing business.

Alright: he’ll one-up her! With his most dazzling smile he leans forward across their meals from their cultures. “A kiss on the lips.”

She kisses him—wait, she pulls away and that’s it? And she’s not even flustered? Now she’s giggling because of how he gawks at her. But he supposes he can’t be annoyed, not when they’re in a lovely picnic spot, the sun is shining, and his girlfriend looks truly liberated from her duties.
