Only English teachers that have taught this novel multiple times a day for several years will get that these people are ignorant to the true meaning of that book and Fitzgerald’s perspective. It has been particularly difficult lately especially with Tom’s opinion of immigration.

People are rude. People are also ignorant. In my life, I can see autism where I didn’t before until I started studying it to help my family. Now I see older relatives, and it seems obvious, but I would never mention it to them because they’ve lived their whole life as “quirky.”
