Virginian turned Washingtonian turned Californian come full circle to Virginian again. Getting reacquainted with southern accents and being called ma'am a lot.
Ooh perfect snow day listening! Had to dig back in screenshots to find mine.

Just turned it on and wondering how many versions of Don't Think Twice, It's Alright will end up on here? 😁

I remember going to "day camp" at the neighborhood elementary school and just ... leaving when I got bored. No sign in or sign out. GenX childhoods were wild.

I was surprised that the Planned Parenthood clinic stayed open today, but we volunteers were out there making sure the patients could safely access care. Only one of the protesters was hardy enough to come harass people today and even he gave up early.

Classico is reliably good sauce! We also tend to stock up on Rao's when it's on sale at Costco. I also just learned it's pronounced Ray-Ohs, not Rows (like the British term for a fight or argument).

Can we add him to the license plate options?

Isn't the Nova outpost mostly masters degrees and certificate programs for working professionals? So basically a cash cow with the UVa brand, so it tracks that dean would align with the non-signers.

Yeah, nice to get some good news on that front for a change!

They have a life and family here. They are part of the community. I'm relieved, and so very proud, that it all worked as it is supposed to and that this person is a newly minted citizen. Next up, we keep working on building English skills! Registering to vote is on the list, too! 5/5

I knew that my student's readiness wasn't going to be a barrier. I knew there was nothing in their background that would render them ineligible. And yet, *especially* after the most recent rhetoric, I feared that this administration would derail the process anyway. 4/5

They passed the exam a couple weeks ago and the oath ceremony followed about a week later (sometimes it happens on the same day but this interview ended late in the day, so it happened on another day). 3/5

My student worked their butt off studying, diligently reviewing the material at home in between our sessions. I was fully confident they knew their stuff, their English was at a good enough level, and they were well prepared for the interview and exam. 2/5

Dulles is fine. Not the best, not the worst, but certainly not in need of wholesale replacement!

Okay, in the good news department, her oath ceremony was the next week after her interview and she is officially a citizen. I'm relieved and very very proud of her - she worked hard for this!

Also music rights. I'm still salty about watching Sports Night on streaming and they swapped out "She Will Have Her Way" in the "Special Powers" episode for ... something that was not "She Will Have Her Way." 🤬

I went on a Lange deep dive last year after seeing a special exhibit at Oakland Museum of California. Fascinating life!

My cat stayed at my parents' house for 2 weeks while we were in the process of moving. He agreed that floor vents are the greatest invention ever, maybe even better than the box of warms.

It used to be when you rented a car the most complicated thing you might need to figure out is how to turn on the wipers (and the worst outcome of getting it wrong was a wet windshield and an errant turn signal).
