One thing I wasn't prepared for in grad school was how many CS folks are staunchly against anything that isn't python or anything that uses paradigms like parallel computing. Why get a CS masters/PhD if coding hard things scare you?

So many CS folks do not understand the significance of their actions. "you should make an AI therapist bot" what does a programmer understand about the complexities of the mental health field? Do folks even realize how dystopian that is? "You should make the babycrusher!" Do we need the babycrusher?
