You can see this is wrong immediately when you see total company tax payments in the Budget.

Total company tax is $141 billion. So to pay more than everyone else combined mining needs to have paid $71 billion, not $59 billion (which is also wrong, see below).

The $59 billion figure is wrong too because it includes royalties.

The Minerals Council know this, as you can see from their press release.

Miners paid $32.5b in tax, nothing to be sneezed at, but not $59 billion.

I think it’s pretty obvious that they’re not employed to protect Australians. Just vested interests.
