You've got Australians out there who are in a lot of pain, you've got young Australians who are being advertised [to] to the point that they think gambling is just a normal part of watching sport, surely we can do better than that as a country

Pocock outstrips Albanese has a leader in every sense.
Pocock reinvited to parliamentary sports club after PM weighs in
The former star Wallabies player turned independent senator was kicked out of the social sports club after raising concerns about its links to the gambling industry.

Every time the government accepts money from the gambling industry, it increases its debts to companies whose business models are based on preying on young and vulnerable people, and doing them harm.

The Albanese government does this again and again.

It's my birthday in a few weeks and what I really want is journos like Amy Remeikis, Dave Milner, Michael West, the Crikey team, and other Independent media allowed into #auspol pressers to ask the questions I want answered. Could someone organise that for me? Yeah, that'd be great, thanks.

This is not just the appearance of conflict of interest, it is corruption of democracy pure and simple.

Gee, if only those First Nations people had thought of having a Voice to Parliament via a “Sports Club”.

The Aust Parliament Sports Club (the one that ditched David Pocock) is now formally registered as a lobby group👇🏽

Anthony Albanese is the President of the Aust Parliament Sports Club.

That means the Prime Minister of Australia is currently the president of a lobby group.

Just utterly unbelievable.

What is wild about this story is that Deloitte has been allowed to keep 80% of the massive fees it charged for using ChatGPT to produce rubbish and passing it off as actual work. (One might add, why was a consulting firm purporting to give legal advice anyway, hmmm?)

Ludicrous. The NACC is supposed to be independent but Brereton keeps working for the ADF while overseeing potential corruption investigations about it?
The Kathryn Campbell conflict wasn't enough to demonstrate how costly and damaging this is? That mistake already cost the NACC $1.2m to rectify.
Corruption watchdog head 'consulted' for ADF inspector general 11 times
Paul Brereton and Labor politicians had previously stated he had stepped away from the body and resigned as assistant inspector-general of the ADF prior to taking on the top integrity job.

Oh boy the Labor Party demonstrating they truly have a thin skin.
I would not say they are bending the knee to the gambling industry rather they’re on their hands and knees adorned with a collar and leash. #auspol

The gambling industry is predatory and insidious.

I quit the Parliamentary Sports Club a few weeks ago, when I discovered it had registered as a lobbyist group and was sponsored by the gambling peak body.

The industry will do anything to wield influence on pollies, and hates being called out.

The difference between David Pocock and the rest of the Cwth Parliament is that as a professional athlete he was required to appreciate interest conflicts and integrity risks (especially re. gambling).

In Australia the federal level is unique in not doing this: States and Councils must handle risk

Deloitte wrongly told government officials that errors in a major report authored for the employment department were simply transcription issues when they were actually caused by artificial intelligence www.afr.com/companies/pr...
Deloitte blamed ‘transcription issue’ for flawed AI report
The consulting firm is under pressure to repay the full balance of its $440,000 contract, but won’t be pursued by the department that commissioned the work.

In 1997 then “geniuses” treasurer Costello & PM Howard sold off our gold reserves.
Gold sold: 167 tonnes
-Proceeds received in 1997: AUD $2.4 billion

-If we still owned that gold today (spot price ≈ AUD $6,054.50/troy ounce, 7 Oct 2025):
≈ AUD $32.51 billion.

👉🏻We’d be $30+billion richer today.
