Yeah, the sizing was good! Now on to printing in color and a lot of cutting.

Checking sizing on my black and white printer before getting some color prints made. This is the prototype of my latest chocolate game.

It's #CraftWednesday! Do you have a game-related crafting project in progress? It could be a prototype, print and play, upgrading the components of a favourite game, making an accessory or even something larger like a table or games room. Share a picture and join in! Please RP!

I agree. I was surprised not to see a ship aspect to Stoneburner. I see the ship in a space game just as important as the ship in a pirate game. I’m running a stone burner one shot in a couple of weeks and I’m trying to decide if I home brew a ship sheet or modify the story.

Made some paper printable chocolate tokens for my next chocolate game prototype.

When a game has more value assigned to it than I paid for it then I say I’ve gotten enough value from it.

I try to not have more than 5 games in my collection at a time that I haven’t gotten value out of.

I don’t think how many times I play a game matter but rather how much value I get out of the game

I have this system that I hold myself too of tracking how much value I get from a game I buy. To track value, I use $3/person/hour of game time. If I play a 2 hour game with 4 ppl it gets $24 of value

A well known board game designer told me the majority of new games get played ONCE and I have a big problem w/ that. I get that not everything can be a hit, but I feel like something must be missing from design in general if this is happening. Rushed designs? Poor rulebooks? Bad visual design?
ephemeralpath.com
I believe this. I think I’m today’s world of flashy game art and Kickstarter hype that it’s much easier to get people to buy a game than it is to get people to play a game. People impulse buy games that they never actually have time or the group to play

It doesn’t need to be a twist on something existing, it could be a completely new mechanism as long as it makes the theme exciting or appealing to players.

I like your recycling rondel theme, sounds fun

My opinion is that a good design can turn nearly any theme into a great game. The theme ideas that typically excite me the most are the ones that I come up with an interesting mechanism pairing around.

I finished the playtest document for the first 4 levels of Paiku’s Tilted Tale (solo pnp)! After I get feedback from the first couple of testers I’m hoping to get it out to a wider audience.

Had a chance to show Ephemeral Path at Grand Con gaming convention this weekend! #tapletopgaming #wargaming #miniatures

Thanks for taking the time to add helpful details!

I’m not really sure why I’m not more excited about it. I think it might be because it feels like the least creative project I’m working on.

No pictures but I designed a quick 20 card game this week. Just numbers on cards in the realm of flip 7. It’s fun but it’s hard for me to get excited about

As a designer, I really appreciate this. In todays crowded field, it’s often hard to even get a pitch meeting (or in many cases even a response) so an introduction goes a long way.

Played Bomb Busters for the first time today. Wow, that’s a great one

Thanks! Mostly they liked the chocolate box building portion of it but not the idea of running the online chocolate company. The publishers i pitched to thought it was too heavy of a game. I’m hopeful for the direction I’m going now

First prototype of a new game using Modern Chocolate’s hidden filling mechanism. I’ve been starting to think of others ways to use the chocolate mechanism after it seems that publishers weren’t into the modern chocolate theme.

I’d love to see a new CCG the size of Dice Masters. One of the things I like most about dice masters is that is was a CCG that felt manageable. Sets were small, teams I created were small, and singles were reasonably priced. And it’s a great game.

GenCon has always been a good reminder of the privileges in being able to regularly attend such conventions. But it's doubly so now when so many aren't safe traveling to the US. I'd love to see more publishers and communities finding ways to extend opportunities for networking and accessing info.

Accomplishment of the week: I can now solve a Rubik’s cube mini.

The main character needs to get the crystal back in the tower in a limited number of moves. Players assign different action to each die face and tilt the die through the map. The face up side changes as the die moves and players will need to puzzle out a path and a face assignment combination
