I make jokes about metahumor.

He/him. Grey-haired white cis-male-adjacent. Devout agnostic.

Black lives matter. LGBT+ lives matter. Immigrant lives matter.

Facts matter. Science matters.

Aka Eric Bloomquist.
If we weren't comparatively privileged and reasonably financially stable, I might be tempted to do something like this for the GoFundMe $$$.

A little tempted. But not really. Unless we also had kids and were in danger of being unhoused and unfed. And even then ... probably nah.

I'm old enough that I remember the loud fuss about President Clinton's stupid-and-obnoxious behavior - and the reporting of it - besmirching the dignity of the office.

Pretty sure the Trump-branded condoms won't hardly be noticed.

Cory Doctorow, please note.

(Unfortunately, he's not on Bluesky.)
December 12, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Well, he IS generally running the country like a business. Which would be bad enough, but he's running it like he ran HIS businesses, which sucks.

There's always a moment of combined satisfaction and disappointment when I want to cancel my subscription to something that I've already cancelled.

Too bad there's not an option to hyper-cancel a service by demanding a full refund for a previously-cancelled subscription.

I wouldn't watch, but I might pay the PPV anyway if the proceeds are used to transition to universal pre-K or something like that.

Blaming women for everything is common, but this is possibly the first time I've noticed *girls wanting girls' toys* to be an issue.

(I mean, it's probably happened, but it's the first I've noticed.)

Doubly ironic, considering how absurdly gender-coded so many toys still are.
December 12, 2025 at 4:33 PM
I dunno why I thought that I might possibly be the first one to notice her unwrapped belly button.

This is *Bluesky*, so *of course* people noticed.

Not just burning the crops, but also salting the ground.

"Government is the problem! Vote for us and we'll prove it!"
December 12, 2025 at 4:12 PM
I strongly suspect that for this administration, it's sometimes the case that they intentionally pick incompetent people just to make the results more malicious.

"How can we best sabotage this? Sure, let's pick someone who wants to destroy it, but someone who will do so in the worst possible way."
December 12, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Hell, they're probably still waiting for another excuse to run the "Trump is becoming presidential" thing yet again. 🙄
December 12, 2025 at 3:56 PM
But if she climbs down from that cross, how will people be able to see her?
December 12, 2025 at 3:51 PM
(It has been suggested that the person who put this photo together did it this way *on purpose* as a sneaky criticism. Which, okay, if so, I apologize for calling them a damned idiot.)

Universal single-payer healthcare would almost certainly be *less expensive* - and have better general outcomes - than our current system.

At least, judging from the countries who currently do versions of that.

We would be a *richer* country. (And not just financially.)
December 12, 2025 at 2:35 PM
Yeah, first thing that occurred to me.
December 12, 2025 at 2:28 PM
At this point, they're actively trying to prevent the second part.
December 12, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Some in Britain seem to want to comply in advance.
December 12, 2025 at 2:08 PM
I don't think anyone could go through what he has and NOT be worried. Unlike most of us, he has first-hand experience of the dangers.
December 12, 2025 at 12:44 PM
Less likely, certainly. I doubt a President Gore would've so casually dismissed the memo about the possible attack.

In any case, the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions and occupations wouldn't have happened.

Probably not Guantanamo, either.

The so-called "Patriot Act", though, might have.
December 12, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Maybe he should have picked Dick Cheney instead. Or better yet, Sarah Palin.
December 12, 2025 at 12:31 PM
"The Planet of the Teddy Bears"

"An ode to animal awareness, and a criticism of colonialism and ultraliberalism."

So ... yes. 🧸
December 12, 2025 at 12:27 PM
I suppose most people looking at the photo won't put much thought into how unintentionally and negatively apropos the image could be seen.

[insert joke about "falling tools" here]
December 12, 2025 at 12:18 PM
I know the photo is faked, but what kind of damned idiot would portray these other damned idiots sitting on a dirty i-beam in their business drag in a situation where their arrogant ignorance would put them at serious risk of plummeting to their deaths?
December 12, 2025 at 12:14 PM
There's a poll, but you wouldn't know it. It's from a school in Canada.
