The renaming of the streaming service from Apple TV+ to just Apple TV has to be a primer for rebranding the next-gen device to Apple Home or some such.
One can hope.

So they're remaking Halo 1. Again. Okay.
And they're bringing it to PlayStation this time. Okay.
They may have a new "very premium" console in the works, but the writing is on the wall now. The console hardware + software exclusives model is dead to them.

I hope Grezzo is working on this. With the next 3D Zelda a ways off most likely, it’d be great to have remakes of these games à la Link’s Awakening to tide us over.
The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons key art from Nintendo Today.
Out of all past Nintendo games, there are no remakes I want more right now than Oracle of Seasons & Ages.

The new Games app is even more evidence to me that Apple needs an “Apple TV Arcade” model in a refreshed lineup. Apple TV for streaming, home hub; Apple TV Arcade for gaming.
The key would be bundling a controller with the Arcade.
Sync game saves with iPhone and you have mobile/portable covered.

Here, here to a new Star Fox.
There's definitely a path for a Star Fox revival with the level of quality that Donkey Kong Bananza received.
Star Fox needs to be given to the right team.
The 3D Mario team was perfect for Donkey Kong.

I also shared in the skepticism of the DS and didn’t get one until they released the DSi. It was a clunky looking toy in comparison. But as always, time and again, Nintendo delivered on the fun. Elite Beat Agents in particular was so good.
20 years ago, @edgemagazine.bsky.social marvelled at the wide range of new handhelds hitting the market. Like many of us, they didn't fancy the DS' chances of matching the Game Boy's success, though (spoiler: it is now the best selling handheld console of all time)

For me, it's Wall-E by a mile. Then, The Incredibles, followed by Toy Story.

Best game shopping / price tracking site out there. My weekly email digest from Deku this morning had the subject: "This week: 71318 new deals" to give an idea of the scale they cover.
Thank you, @dekudeals.com for all the hard work and care you put into the site!

Steam and Nintendo starting their big summer sales on the same day is taking quite a toll on our servers. Thank you all for your patience as the team works through things.

Good news, Bluesky fam: I got my Switch 2 on launch day yesterday! Costco for the win.
First impressions: the hardware feels premium. Control sticks on the Joy-Cons are smooth as silk. Buttons have the right amount of clicky and spongy. The screen looks amazing.
Nintendo rocked this hardware.

When thinking back to the N64 (my favorite of that era), my mind reels at the fact that Windows 95 (you know, the one that first had the start menu?) was a mere 1 year old when Mario was running around in 3D on a $200 home console. Bonkers! I vividly remember the awe it struck in me.
The N64 was a $200 machine being compared with contemporary stuff that cost $10k. Doing literally that had never been shown in a consumer appliance.
There was a time consoles were crazy shots into the dark in their architecture. They had weird hardware acceleration. I wish you could have felt that.

Sobering fact of the day. I spent a few minutes calculating how long it would take to play all the games in my backlog. Sensible session lengths, it's not a job, etc, all factored in.
Reader, I would not live long enough. I mean, I'd have to set a new world record for oldest person.

Successfully pre-ordered Switch 2 + Mario Kart bundle at Target. Target doesn't guarantee a release day delivery, but happy that it's in the books.
Good night and good luck, fellow pre-orderers.

Awakening really was an awesome game. It got me into Fire Emblem, and a big reason for that was it was on a portable console.
Speaking of: I’m excited about Switch 2, but I do hope they give us a Switch 2 Lite, especially given the larger screen on the regular model.

Happy 35th Anniversary to the Fire Emblem series!
Fire Emblem is more popular now than it ever was during the first 25 years.
Awakening/Fates/Three Houses specifically helped raise the series popularity tremendously.
I can't wait for the first Fire Emblem game on Switch 2.

I really enjoyed Echoes of Wisdom. The music is so good. Super Mario RPG was quick but every bit as good as I remember. And Metroid: Zero Mission on GBA is still my favorite 2D entry.
