Enormous gratitude to @davidcporter.net for publishing this piece (in reality a fragment of a much longer poem) as lucky number 13 in the extraordinary annals of @keep-planning.net

Here are the first few lines.

Without postal service I know I have books currently suspended in transit somewhere, but I did welcome a new review copy this weekend—a hefty tome due next June, on Bloomsday even. @saggingmeniscus.bsky.social

Issue 8 of Version (9) Magazine is now live. Heartfelt thanks to all contributors, without whom its manifold display of poetry contemporary, avant-garde, and experimental could not occur.

All Greece hates…
… God’s daughter, born of love

Helen by H.D.
(No one does alienation — from society & circumstance — like H.D. Calm distant fire)
#poetrysunday
All Greece hates
the still eyes in the white face, the lustre as of olives where she stands,
and the white hands.
All Greece reviles
the wan face when she smiles, hating it deeper still
when it grows wan and white, remembering past enchantments and past ills.
Greece sees unmoved,
God's daughter, born of love, the beauty of cool feet and slenderest knees,
could love indeed the maid, only if she were laid, white ash amid funereal cypresses.

I have some new work out in @rangermagazine.bsky.social . Here is a visual sonnet, and some translations into the language of thunder from Joyce's Finnegans Wake.

Many thanks to editor David A. Bishop.
