Same! Like, keep going, fleshchild!

Someone who is evidently nine years old submitted something to the Flesh zine and, like...sorry, kid, but I don't think we can publish you in a zine dedicated to Flesh. Appreciate the enthusiasm, though!

If you do this shit, go fuck yourself.

Yes, let's be shitty to fat people in our quest to defeat fascism! That'll definitely make the world a better place!

Don’t think these Texas National Guard guys are going to be chasing any immigrants around Chicago on foot

Talk to Me didn't work for me, but I'm pretty pumped to watch Bring Her Back. Maybe tonight!

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.

It turns out building habits and stuff actually requires not being in survival mode, who knew?!
(Yeah yeah I did)

It's tough! I think I just have to accept that the circumstances are never again going to be what they were like in 2020 and that's okay. I don't have to rush it.

My favorite band in the world, Kayo Dot, is playing in Minneapolis in January, and God, I'm so hyped!

If you take 30 seconds to think about all the ways we could immediately make the world better using the resources already at hand, you'll either lose your mind or feel hella inspired. Maybe both.

I know this simile makes it seem like I hate writing now, but that's not true. I should revise it to say "passing a fucking awesome story like an inexplicably pleasurable kidney stone every three months."

Me in 2020: cranking out one short story per week.
Me in 2025: passing a story like a kidney stone once every three months.

24 hours left before the call for FLESH closes! if you have something gnawing at your braincase and fingertips but haven't submitted it yet, now is the time!
Image ID: an ominous, Cenobite-like armored person ccmpletely covered in armor and spikes stands behind text that reads "i desire more flesh."

I find most cannibalism fiction extremely tedious, so if anyone with a cannibalism piece gets accepted for the Flesh zine, just know that it's a high compliment. You did it--you made cannibalism compelling again!

hey, did you know I do preliminary edits (making sure the story makes sense, suggestions for strength and continuity, etc.) as well as sensitivity reading?

if not, I do!

if you're looking for feedback from an award-winning author, I'm your person! Just reply to this post and we can discuss.

Whooooa, that's super cool.

Important slushing lessons:
1) To keep things fair for the writers, don't slush while you're cranky.
2) Never feel pressure to read an entire piece if it starts losing your interest or is a blatantly bad fit for the project.
3) Treat it like a treasure hunt to make the process more fun.

Or, more accurately, that guy needs to Stop Doing That.

Always! I need to make myself less approachable, lol.

Just saw Thou live, which was great, minus the old dude who wouldn't stop talking to me between songs and said things like, "In the '80s, metal bands figured out if they slowed down the tempo, the females would come out. There are so many females out tonight. It's amazing." Okay, dude, lol.

If the urgent care I went to way back in March took until late September to send me a bill, they probably don't need my money that bad, right?
