It's easy for the cryptkeeper to sit there and moralize. Make his little puns about our transgressions. All he needs to do is take care of his damn crypt. His life is simple

conversion therapy for consenting legal adults isn't illegal in Colorado, by the way. this is, once again, just about violating and controlling children.

"Acknowledging that queerness isn't a mental disorder is like eugenics and that's why people should have the right to try and eradicate queer kids, which isn't eugenics, just freedom"

Alito referencing Buck v. Bell - a horrendous eugenics case - to argue that sometimes the medical system is colored by biases & wrong (which is why it should be fine to essentially practice eugenics on queer youth) is monstrous beyond words.

This will be a vote to erase 50 years of medical and psychiatric knowledge and kill gay and trans kids, because MAGA Republicans feel that in a better world, fewer of them would exist. It is that simple. Democrats must make SCOTUS expansion part of the party platform. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...

Looking to submit to a zine that welcomes horror for all its nastiness and also pays 10 cents per word? Look no further.

Open for subs through October 7th: cursedmorsels.com/submission-c...
FLESH Zine
For this submission call, we’re looking for pieces (500 words or fewer) connected to the broad theme of FLESH. This zine will be included for free with Samir Sirk Morató’s Gore Poetics, a Cursed Morsels 2026 release. For context, this book is weird, erotic, grotesque, queer, transgressive, literary, and intense if that gives you a sense for the kinds of work Samir and I (Eric Raglin) are looking for. Your submission can be fiction, poetry, or nonfiction.

Pay is 10 cents per word. We’re asking for first worldwide print and digital publishing rights but no exclusivity period. Contributors will receive five free physical copies of the zine.

Never Leave a Red Sock on the Clothesline — Shaun Tan
Painting we see a Barren little backyard pretty much the only things in it are a rainwater tank and a little clothesline. There is one red sock hanging on the clothesline. There is a wall separating the empty yard from the alley behind. huddling together, crouched down against this wall are two small children the larger one has his hand covering the mouth of the smaller one. in the alley we can see what they are hiding from. a rabbit. a red rabbit. a red rabbit that's about 30 ft tall.

"Private Notary" by Samuel M. Moss is now free to read!

I hesitate to assign genre labels to most stories, but "Private Notary" very much makes me think about the description of the New Weird as subverting cliches of the fantastic in order to put them to discomforting, rather than consoling ends.

"In the years of his appointment, the Private Notary has never met his Patron, or in fact notarized any document. This time, all these years, have been spent in study and preparation for when his services will be needed. When this may happen, and how it will manifest, he does not know."
“Private Notary” by Samuel M. Moss - Seize The Press
The Private Notary wakes in darkness. It is November already and though there is no snow on the ground the cold seeps into his quarters. Out in the front room, he stokes up some embers in the wood sto...
