IMO, Putin wants Russia to be what it was in the 19th Century, no matter the cost. Kirill having described Putin's rule as "a miracle of God" helps in this country of serfs. That's one of the reasons they'll continue the war, again IMO...

Do you think he understands what "imperialism" means? Wouldn't you say he just thinks with his wallet, like he does with the Ukraine/Russia talks, with Kushner undoubtedly present in the room to "cut deals" that he and his family can profit from? The result is, of course, the same...
