Inspired by artist Tauber-Arb and the discoveries of @mariafelicita.bsky.social, @oliviawalch.bsky.social made this to show how brain cancers grow in response to morning hormonal signals. What do you see?

First highlight...

Senator Capito started of the discussion saying that the bill contains AN INCREASE for NIH.

The details are not available, but the bill will be released ofter the hearing.

This is not a done-deal, but it does show where the Senate is on a bipartisan basis.

🚨Very happy that my PhD work is now out in @nature.com!

We discovered that evolution, by acting in the midbrain, shifted the threshold to escape in Peromyscus mice, to fine-tune defensive strategies in different environments

This was a truly collaborative effort! 🧵⬇️

When two related mouse species are faced with a scary visual shadow that appears to be approaching…PAG neurons in one say “run!” And in the other say “freeze!” Very cool findings. Congrats to the authors. Could evolutionary switches like this underlie nocturnal vs diurnal?

1/ Why do patients with late-stage cancer lose motivation & sink into apathy?
🔥 Our new Science paper shows chronic inflammation activates a cytokine-sensing brain circuit that lowers motivation. Huge team effort: Aelita Zhu, Sarah Starosta, Pignatelli & Janowitz labs! 🧵
