Spread the word if you can.
We have an unused stopped flow accessory from Applied Photophysics. We traded in our Chirascan CD instrument so we have no use for this anymore. Reach out if you are interested and can find a home for this setup. Will ofcourse only work with a Chirascan!

Since this is a native structure, it showcases differential occupancy of ADP and 2-oxoglutarate (2OG) thereby priming the complex for immediate remodeling in response to metabolic demands.

The structure reveals how nitrogenase is inhibited by the NifI complex. Three units of the NifDK tetramer (MoFe protein of nitrogenase) are bundled together by six NifI1a-NifI1b-Nif2 heterotrimers as a 888 kDa supercomplex made of 30 subunits.

Methanogens are dare-devils that operate near the thermodynamic limits of life, conserving significantly less energy during methane production than aerobic diazotrophs. Thus, efficient regulation of nitrogenase is vital for survival under fluctuating nitrogen conditions.

Credit for the structural work goes to @rajnandani.bsky.social @slu-biochemistry.bsky.social Heroic effort from Tom Deere in Dan Lessner's group @uarkpress.bsky.social to isolate the native nitrogenase complex from the methanogen. The structure also shows a novel mode of nitrogenase regulation.

We were one of the lucky ones to receive our NCI award. We have an open postdoctoral fellow or research tech position in the group. If you (or anyone you know) has strong expertise in structural biology or cell biology (genomic instability mechanisms) please reach out. www.antonylab.org

I read it this morning. Wonderful study! Another ssDNA binding protein that is amazing in significance!

It is not always safe to repair DNA Damage. Sometimes, cells "just bypass it".

During DNA replication, repair of lesions on DNA can be dangerous. Cells instead "tolerate" DNA damage and focus on finishing replication.

Read our review and find out why and how: doi.org/10.1016/j.ti...

Excited to share our latest work with @simonbullock11.bsky.social! We looked at how diverse mRNAs get selected for subcellular localization and it turns out that a single protein can recognize different RNA elements using shared features that weren’t apparent before.
