They've even moved manufacturing to SE Asia to find cheaper labor. Chinese products are quite competitive, to the point where there is even concern about IP theft on the products and tech they are making. Just check out BYD and other goods.
fwiw, “cheap goods from china” really understates the high quality of manufacturing you can get from chinese suppliers these days. also, we can have real prosperity with pro labor economy and a generous social insurance state but they don’t want that!
Kudlow: "Buying cheap goods is not a real prosperity, and we don't have to accept that. So you lay the law down, that's all. Look, all the badly behaving children in Asia and elsewhere are coming home to papa. They're all on the phone begging for mercy."

Five of the hardest hit countries with tariffs are from #ASEAN- #Cambodia, #Laos, #Vietnam, #Myanmar, and #Thailand. Three are extremely poor, at the bottom of several development indicators, & one just went through a massive earthquake. Garments, electronics, and food will be top impacted sectors
