It's been an awful time for the workers of Aotearoa since this crackpot govt was elected. Now @Brookvanvelden kills our world class pay equity work.

If the goal is to have these people released as members of society, ready to do their part, then we can't take away the one thing they can do from prison, that involves thinking of themselves as part of that very society.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix

Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

Employers will no longer need to provide info about unions or ensure that workers are employed on the same terms with any collective agreement. Make no mistake, this is a deliberate attempt to undermine unions and prevent workers from securing good pay and conditions.

Professional investors being paid a lot of money to be careful about lending to the NZ Govt think it is wonderful place to put their money. Yet the Govt itself is so afraid of borrowing more that it is happy to kill its own popularity by starving our hospitals, schools and houses of investment. 1/3
Why is the Govt so afraid of borrowing?
Professionals lending money to NZ Government are very keen to lend Govt more; Fund managers offer $2.073 billion for $500 million worth of bonds; Story Govt tells itself about debt is just wrong

If your employer deliberately underpays you, if they dock your pay for things they're not allowed to, if they require you come in early and stay late without compensation - these are all examples of wage theft. And now, thanks to the new law, they are all criminal acts.
