Today I wrote about our white supremacist political movement's perverse insistence that "we don't have to apologize for being white anymore."

Conservatives have been apologizing, apparently. Did you know? I had no idea. So I asked, and here's what I found.

Apologies For Being White
How supremacists convert responsibility into blame to avoid paying natural costs and to make everyone else pay unnatural ones.

Currently reading The Endling by Maria Reva and absolutely smitten with the story and Reva's writing style.

I freaking love McEwan's stuff in general and I am gobbling this one up. The writing, the slightly dystopic theme amongst a back drop of climate change - but as a sub plot and not the central theme - and also the subject... Cannot wait for this one to be unleashed upon the literary world. #booksky

I'm about a third of the way through it now. Trepidation in the beginning, but as expected, I fell into the groove. Elevated storytelling around the fire. #booksky #books
Ready to dig into this 1200+ page ARC. Thrilled to preview this @markzdanielewski.bsky.social title as someone who has delighted in hand selling House of Leaves for over 20 years now. Thank you, @penguinbooksusa.bsky.social for the ARC. #BookSky #Books

Enjoying the weird that is this. Book is coming out in September, and the original Bunny novel is in film development... The transformation into a visual art should be amazing.

Giving this one a read before it's September release

What I've been reading lately. A bit of everything. All due this spring.

A fun game I play is to go into a book with zero knowledge. Because Earthlings was a trip, I decided to do that with this one, due out on April 15. I have no regrets. Many thoughts, but zero regrets. Recommended reading for those that enjoy puzzling over a possible or probable dystopian future.

@soulcoughing.bsky.social , got my hands on the rerelease, and want to share it with the world. Glad for this bit of perfection.

Old Romantics. This one felt like reliving my younger moments. Often screaming at younger me, "it can be better!" Absolutely a fantastic read. #books #biblioasis

On the bright side, amazing art tends to rise during times of darkness, so I'm looking forward to extraordinary works of art here in America.

I have been loving Vienna Blood on PBS. Looking forward to reading the novels, but also this lovely bit of history!

When I heard about this tale set during the height of the #MeToo movement, I had concerns. From the first page, with a sardonic wit Mark Twain would have tipped his hat to, Kalfus expertly spins a cautionary tale for the ages. I thought I could guess how the story ends. I sure didn't.

This is unacceptable! Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren, reporting that Navajo citizens in Arizona and New Mexico have faced “negative, sometimes traumatizing experiences” with federal agents targeting undocumented immigrants after Trump’s recent immigration orders.

I can already tell this isn't going to be a quick read, based on these gorgeous and meaty sentences that make up these first paragraphs that make up these first chapters. This is going to be beautiful. On sale 2.25.25.

My review will be in my store's quarterly review magazine and of course I nominated this for Indie Next. My summary: educational, and there are vampires.
I just started reading @sgj.bsky.social upcoming book The Buffalo Hunter Hunter last night and my only goal now is to stay home and read all day. I have the best job. Bookselling. @villagebookswa.bsky.social

Loved this book! Just told my son about it, who plans to read it next. I'll add this to my staff pick shelf, as well.
Charlie Jane Anders wrote about this book. I'm already sucked in and exploring more by @premeemohamed.com
