Lamest of all the cool kids.
Trying to sort out my social media because *gestures at the state of things.*

But mostly I’m mourning the brief period of millennial excitement of “oooo, [insert social platform] looks like a fun place to hang out.”

It was fun until it wasn’t.

I logged back onto Bluesky just to repost this.

You all, this is my husband. I’m so freaking proud! Congrats Chris @flyingwordcraft.ink! Can’t wait to keep cheering you on!
I’m happy to share that Chris Lopez @flyingwordcraft.ink has signed on with me as a new client at Fuse @fuseliterary.bsky.social! Welcome, Chris! 🎉

Since it’s National Coffee Day I thought I should wear my coffee shirt.

Today’s question after writing: if I tell everyone that all I want for Christmas are Starbucks gift cards, how many writing sessions will that be?

*Pulls out a stack of journals*
“Would you like to see my notes?”
“What inspired you to write this book?”
I could write another book explaining that.

I hope she finds her fellow/neighbor writer! Writers connecting with other writers? Yes please!
Dear person in my neighbourhood who dropped this in a Little Library with 24 post-its—who are you? Did you ever publish? Do you like coffee and cocktails and hanging out with other picture book authors? (asked on X, but no one came forward...maybe hanging out here?)

Apparently this is “the mom” vibe.
September 21, 2023 at 3:54 PM
Standing in front of my closet to get ready to take my kid to a doctor appointment and saying “I’m the mom” to all my clothes. As if this requires the most “mom vibe” I can muster.

If this isn’t a clear indication that the stars are aligning for me today then…

Well, no. This means I’ve had coffee, a better night’s sleep, and some much needed luck.

Me: I’m in my mid 30s. I should exercise but I hate starting because I get unreasonably sore. I know! I’ll do this 10 minute beginner’s strength training video to ease into it.

My legs the next day: We are FIRE and there’s nothing you can do about it. LOL

Also good for preventing doom scrolling.
My general opinion is that “good vibes only” is not a great strategy for life but is a perfectly good — possibly optimal — one for social media. If someone makes you furrow your brow a millimeter, go ahead and block, this is just a weird little phone app we’re hanging out on for a minute

That would be me. Although it’s 60% rebellion and 40% me using my best Boomer voice to say, “I’m too old to remember your danfagled name.”
“This branding confusion seems to be commonplace, with a new poll finding that 69% of U.S. X users still refer to the platform as Twitter and to posts as “tweets.””
Twitter users don't want to call it X—inside the platform's marketing challenge
The Harris Poll and Ad Age research find out what people think of Elon Musk’s X rebrand and whether it's catching on.

Surprise gift from my husband. That he bought two years ago. How do I know? He stashed it away in a moving box that only recently was unpacked.

I’ve had Pink’s “Trustfall” stuck in my head for days now and my insomnia-addled brain just started singing “It’s a TRUST FUND baby!”

If that’s not already a parody somewhere…

I might just have to exclusively follow cute animal pics now. I can’t believe it took me over 20 years of internet use to realize how much I need cute animal pics in my life.

Because @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com keeps posting about typos in published works, I meticulously went through my latest post before posting and I’m still checking it because I’m not convinced it’s typo-free. This is the meet cute of anxiety and writing.

Pumpkin spice season starts close to the kids returning to school. It also happens to be the time of year I get more writing done. Ergo, pumpkin spice is my magic writing fuel and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Explained to my 12 yr old about smoking vs nonsmoking sections in restaurants the other day and she was horrified that was even a thing.
Gen Z doesn't know what it was like when everything smelled like cigarettes no matter where you went because half of people older than 15 in the western world chainsmoked indoors and even non-smokers had the scent permeated into our clothing, hair, furniture, and even the walls of every building.

That awkward moment when you’re trying to remember who you follow on Twitter but don’t want to open X

BRB. Gotta sign up to be a classroom volunteer.
This is actually happening in our schools. Most parents don't realize this.

Got my secret code but I’m still waiting for the TARDIS to take me to meet Jane Austen.
