Also known as Ribert (SCA and fandom), The Ineffable Maaancat (and, yes, the extra a's are maaandatory), and just an all-round decent guy.
Seen in DC's Spy Museum's book section - the definitive book on the Birds Aren't Real (faux) conspiracy theory.

And asking myself, "Why?"

Critter count for the year so far - three neighborhood cats (Visitor, Bruiser and Ring-A-Ding); two-three skunks; four-five trash pandas with three being real chonks. Also the usual assortment of birds and squirrels but no vultures.

I just backed Loving Reaper Origin - The Movie on @kickstarter.com

We've supported her work through the years. Short, poignant story-telling with a good use of color to support the tales.

Seeing Trump's rendering (in the butchery sense of the word) of the White House, I expect the projects will end up much like the country will at the end of his term - wreckage, overspent, and blaming everyone but himself and his enablers.

A year ago, I could barely walk fifty yards without needing to rest. Today, there is a somewhat serious consideration of going to the local Ren Faire. I'm still having to marshal my strength which would be definitely needed given the weather conditions that exist then (hot, humid, dusty, noisy)

God bless PRESIDENT Donald J. Trump! By gutting the EPA and deregulating the Department of Agriculture, my family tire-burning and tainted-meat-sales business is BOOMING!

Latest critter count is four trash pandas (Runt, the two Sibs and the Chonk); one possum; and various squirrels and birds. Still miss having Gorgeous the turkey vulture around

As we enter high Northern Hemisphere summer, the trash panda count appears to have stabilized at four - Runt, the two Sibs, and Chonk. Occasional possum during the night. Assorted birds and squirrels during the day although Dreamy (recent neighborhood cat) and vultures have not shown for a while.

Gallego's statement on banning trans athletes (apparently trans women only) from some sports is based on protecting his daughter, it seems. If he's that protective, why not just pull the kid from sports so she doesn't get hurt? I've met female rugby players I would've not gone against in my 20's

Saw a reminder on that other social media site about the year we had a turkey vulture come down onto our front stoop to feed on leftover kibble from our outside cats. Gorgeous would land on our roof and then a controlled drop onto the porch right where the kibble was. Then a few flaps and off.

Me: I wanna get this neato 3-D printer *pointing at a Kickstarter posting*
Fine, we can consider it once we get a cute, large cat for the house. (N.B. lynx and larger)
Me: *pouting* You'd prioritize a CAT over a neato doodad like this?
Her: Yep.
Me: *whiny, pouty sounds while sulking*

Re: Noem's purse stealing. In my neck of the woods, if the police found you with that much jack, they'd suspect you of drug dealing (except that no white women ever, ever engage in that type of thing /s)

With spring comes the trash pandas. We're now seeing two of them come up almost to the door when it's opened to throw out the kibble for them. They're still hesitant with a bit of back and forth until the kibble hits the ground and then it's nom away with a little attention to the humans.
April 15, 2025 at 11:46 AM
Latest on the Nom Nom Porch population. Last night, there were four trash pandas reported with at least one approaching the door as if to say, "There you are! Where's the kibble?" In the meantime, Dreamy (our outside cat) is looking at me like, "Excuse me!? What are *these* doing here?"

I can't decide whether the Evil Masters of the World chose Trump and his minions because they were inept buffoons - or because they're so brilliant at appearing to be inept buffoons.

Expecting the bus in the White House garage to be warmed up soon. Question is who gets to check the undercarriage? Waltz for inviting unauthorized personnel onto the call? Hegseth for disclosing probably TOP SECRET planning information? The person who hasn't sufficiently orally laved 47's shoes.
March 25, 2025 at 3:17 AM
Republican apologists seem to be overlooking a probably uncleared communications system; no vetting of participants; and disclosure of TOP SECRET planning documents over said system. Instead, they are all, "See. Our people can actually due serious planning without #PresidentMusk in the room."

1/The Texas AG says what's most important. Not contagious illness but marketing schemes. Reminds me of the "Freedom Fries" kerfluffle.

Why not an ad campaign of "They call it New York Strip. We know that its flavor, its structure comes from good, solid Texas beef raised by American ranchers."

Back when Trump was promising "revenge and retribution", I'd said that it would only be a matter of time before he'd require loyalty oaths from anyone associated with the Federal Government. The firings are only the first step. Next will likely be the oaths as part of Federal contracts. Bet on it
February 19, 2025 at 3:11 PM
In an egregious example of ass-kissing, we have a Congressperson filing legislation to make Trump's birthday and Flag Day a Federal holiday. I can see celebrations consisting of burning Trump flags. I'm also considering sending a comfy cushion to her so she doesn't bruise her knees.
