Now on bluesky! Friendly, eccentric, euro-centric American who travels there yearly, mainly to Belgium. Non-political, foodie, car enthusiast, love cute animals in my feed, and good fun. Husband wouldn't go a miss either someday. :D

Do not engage.

Oh man, rest in peace... his show was a staple for us computer kids growing up.
Cheifet created and hosted Computer Chronicles, which ran on the public television network from 1983 to 2002 and helped demystify a new tech medium for millions of American viewers.
Stewart Cheifet, PBS host who chronicled the PC revolution, dies at 87

eSIM, at least in the USA, is in my opinion a carrier driven money grab. I know people who obtained a new phone, separate of their carrier, and were charged an activation fee. One of them called and argued it away, but that's bullshit. I refuse to participate, got my iPhone 16 Pro from Canada.

Not-that-hot take:

People really can't handle learning they're doing something wrong these days. It's difficult to present corrective information in this environment where everyone views themselves as attacked rather than mistaken.

Treated my baby to some new shoes, Michelin is overrated… Vredestein Quatrac Pro+. Now it goes around corners like a Civic, qualifies as a winter tire too. 😎🇳🇱🛞🥰

Eventually I'll stop talking about this, haha, but it is 8F/-13C and the heat pump is totally maintaining without any aux heat. Air from the vents is quite warm once it decides what level to run the inverter at, no cold spots in the house. So happy, Bryant 37MUHA ducted cold weather heat pump.

Yeah ok, make that 6in/15cm… harumph! Time to clear this off, and get home. ❄️🧹🥶

The first snow of the season. Going to be 5in/13cm by evening, not bad. ❄️❤️

Bryant 37MUHA cold weather heat pump; vs. 2024 thanksgiving weekend, which had similar temperatures, 70% less energy used vs. my old electric furnace set at constant 68F/20C. No aux heat used, fast defrosts even with 16F/-8C. I picked this one thanks to @techconnectify.bsky.social ! ^_^ <3

First thanksgiving without mom, laying in bed thinking. I miss her enough already, but my emotions come back strongest on the occasions her and I would always do things together. Heck with the pies, and casseroles I just want to hug her one more time. Oy… I shall get up and make a killer breakfast.

Technology is getting boring, or just downright unreliable. Microsoft keeps screwing up Windows 11, Intel has buggy CPU/GPU issues causing blinking of external displays (Lenovo ThinkPad at work), Apple and Google taking away sim card slots in USA… FAH! Ordered a Nothing Phone (3)… excited!

Wasn’t really prepared for that phone call from my mom, a serious health issue and I’m just not ready for this. I need to process, and prepare… she has lived more than 8 decades, and I just don’t know right now. Cherish every moment with your loved ones.
