snippet of my jayvik wip:
“Did you ever want to go up there, see the stars and the earth from out there in person?”

“I did,” Viktor says softly. “Unfortunately, I was not fit enough. I was lucky enough to have a zero g experience once. It was…” He exhales slowly, staring up at the night sky. “I’ve never not hurt before. But in that space I was weightless. My body was unencumbered, painless. I’ve been chasing the feeling of flying ever since.”

They’re both quiet, Jayce, absorbing the words, Viktor watching the stars. “And you?”

Jayce blinks. “Me too,” he says. “But I wasn’t fit to be an astronaut either, even before the crash.”

At Viktor’s puzzled look, his lips twist wryly. “They don’t let people who have tried to kill themselves in.”

Viktor inhales sharply and Jayce looks up at the stars, avoiding his gaze.
