My 14yr old prepared a Google Slides presentation outlining all of her requests for her 15th birthday. We told her we’ve already planned her gift. She gets to be 14 for another year. Negotiations are underway.

The social contract is changing.

I have so many thoughts here I need to organize. It’s happening culturally, politically, professionally. A lot of the assumptions people have made about how the world works won’t hold true in the future and it’s going to be a difficult adjustment.

Here’s the thing:
You will have to rescue yourself from whatever this day brings. Your corporate leadership, your manager, your government, your organizationally designated person in charge will not save you from the suck of the next x days/months/years. You will have to lead yourself out.
