Mind you I am currently having them stay in a Home2 hotel because we can’t make my house accessible enough for my dad in his current condition. Plan was for him to go into the hospital while mom stayed with us. #firstvictimisalwaystheplan

Second place: would be much more reasonable, but they are at 99% capacity and can’t currently offer respite care. At least a 2 month wait for an opening of any kind, which is tbh pretty standard for assisted living.

Marked as possible for later.

Looking into respite care for my parents so I can get them out of the long-stay hotel and stop spending half my waking hours handling their medical care. First place quoted me $500/ day / parent for a minimum of 30 days. #gerentologymath $30k / month.

What Barry said. My parents have long term care insurance and it is for basically minimal home care, not respite. That and Medicare and their regular health insurance would cover rehab, but not assisted living / nursing care.

My parents are past their second childhood and firmly in their second toddlerhood. Temper tantrums and all.

Good morning, today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #spotted now that can mean when you have been spotted by your subject or a bird that has spots or blotches on it’s plumage. I was #spotted by a European Robin yesterday. Good luck. #birds #photography #EastCoastKin
A European robin stands alert on a patch of mossy ground, facing directly toward the camera. Its vivid orange-red breast and face glow warmly in the sunlight, contrasting with its soft grey and brown plumage. Bright green blades of grass frame the foreground, while the background fades into a dark, softly blurred woodland scene.

In tonight’s episode of “Sean’s Parents”: Dad explodes at Mom for no apparent reason, blames it on his hearing aid not working. Sean has a great old time with Betadyne rebandaging Dad’s gangenous toes. Mom tells the same story 5 times.

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.
