I’m genuinely curious: What would ICE need to do for these Democrats to not vote for its unprecedented 300% budget increase? Also interesting: will Ezra Klein say anything publicly after celebrating several of these people despite their authoritarian records?

From our policy director: WA must stop funneling money into extreme sentences with little public benefit. By passing HB 1125, #WaLeg can strengthen communities and stop using taxpayer money to punish an aging & sick population. @esidewalkitout.bsky.social washingtonstatestandard.com/2026/01/21/w...

COMMENTARY | For decades, Washington has spent billions of dollars subsidizing a sentencing system that prioritizes length over common sense.

“When researchers at the Center for AI Safety tested AI agents’ ability to complete remote work tasks, not a single model was able to complete more than three percent of their assignments.”
“One notable MIT study found that 95 percent of companies that integrated AI saw zero meaningful growth in revenue. For coding tasks, one of AI’s most widely hyped applications, another study showed that programmers who used AI coding tools actually became slower at their jobs.”

Key WA homeless student program could lose third of funding

Programs that markedly help Washington’s homeless students may become collateral damage under state budget cuts and turmoil in the federal government, advocates say.

Air pollution kills over 100,000 people every year in the U.S., about 5 times all homicide combined. But you won't see wall-to-wall coverage of Trump's deadly announcement. The *volume* of news coverage affects who and what we are afraid of, and which larger threats we ignore.

As I explain with many examples in Copaganda, these systems are functioning exactly as they are designed. This is what they are trained to do. This is what they keep doing. The reasons police policies and behavior are the same in hundreds of cities is that it is intentional.

look... the entity has banned 37 intl aid orgs from operating in Gaza. as the post explains, since these orgs distribute a lot of food, the population will remain at severe food insecurity.

it's all the more important to support mutual aid orgs like Sameer now, as they do their own food distros.
