The Social Media restriction Bill is rather absurd.

Hey we don't know what "reasonable steps" are but... you know... just work it out, oh and it will change over time so... errr... good luck with that!
From the Explanatory Memorandum: Reasonable steps The Bill does not dictate how platforms must comply with the minimum age obligation. However, it is expected that at a minimum, the obligation will require platforms to implement some form of age assurance, as a means of identifying whether a prospective or existing account holder is an Australian child under the age of 16 years. Whether an age assurance methodology meets the ‘reasonable steps’ test is to be determined objectively, having regard to the suite of methods available, their relative efficacy, costs associated with their implementation, and data and privacy implications on users, amongst other things. The outcomes of the Australian Government’s age assurance trial, are likely to be instructive for regulated entities, and will form the basis of regulatory guidance issued by the Commissioner, in the first instance. Technology and the digital space continue to undergo significant change at a rapid pace. An obligation to undertake reasonable steps that includes age assurance methodology and technology, allows for platforms and the age assurance industry to evolve over time and continue to comply with the obligation, without the need for legislative amendments.
