I’m not sure it’s so much even an excuse as a way to just make it physically impossible. An excuse is meant to convince someone but they’re not aiming to convince a judge. They’re just hoping the orders Can’t be enforced due to lake of bureaucratic capacity on the part of judges.

”This is not who we are” is basic, incredibly common rhetoric appealing to people’s identity of themselves as good people. People who don’t understand that are being willfully obtuse so they can score internet points for being contrarian.

I’m not sure I agree with that critique but it’s also a critique you could make of a lot of left wing accounts. Usually you see this kind of complaint from more centrist folks.

My rebuttal was that “anti-anti-Trump” is a phrase that describes someone who claims to not support Trump, but also criticizes people who criticize him too much. That is what the phrase means and very obviously does not describe Will. I was only trying to highlight the absurdity of your use of it.

So I know your entire thing is to just claim the other party is stupid, that way you can ”win” the argument without actually putting in any real mental effort or thought, but you might consider this is why I tend to trust Will’s thoughts and opinions more than yours.

It’s not an attempt at a gotcha. I’m trying to be clear about how the logic reaches an absurd conclusion. “Anti-anti-Trump” is a phrase coined to describe people that pretend to not like Trump but condemn people who are angry at Trump as being too mean.

You can have some more Radical policies without being a toxic psycho, and Cuomo was clearly more of the authoritarian stripe than Mamdani, for all his being “centrist”, and I say this as someone who very much liked Bloomberg.

To be fair this doesn’t apply to most rent stabilized units since there’s a wide range of “below market but profitable”

Sure but then what do you do? There Are properties in the city that are worth more if the land is empty due to rent control since they can be developed into market rate, which is pathological given construction costs. Also begging for an “accident” to happen even without insurance money.

She’s running in a D+19 district. If she wins it will be a sign that she knows how to win a democratic primary, not a competitive seat.
