This is possibly the pettiest rant in the world, but I am UTTERLY TRANSFIXED by the hideousness of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert outfits in the NYT article today and I need to yell about it. Qualifications: I sew and have sung in a lot of choirs.

Look at this. What?? is happening? here??

I fundamentally agree with Jules here, but this piece absolutely throws non-binary people to the wolves by identifying our identities as products of this transgender liberalism, rather than recognizing that our identities have been weaponized against us.
21 Jul 25 -- The Baffler Historian Jules Gill-Peterson has a provocative new essay for the Baffler. Jules argues for a right to change sex grounded in trans history and the 14th Amendment and seeks to replace the current liberal ideal of individual self-actualization through gender identity.
Reject Transgender Liberalism | Jules Gill-Peterson
In the wake of the most recent Supreme Court term, it’s clear the trans movement must change legal and political course—but what might that look like?

In national elections, liberals like me ask leftists to be coalition partners — hold their noses and vote for a candidate they don't love to beat someone truly terrible.

In New York, the shoe is on the other foot. And we should be clear that we're willing to do what we ask of our partners.

Fuck Chuck Schumer.

This is a direct ripping away of rights from transgender people.

Our lives are not a distraction.

There are trans Americans right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist.

Well, I am. We are. We will.

Pete Hegseth never should have been tapped for this job. It's too important.

He should be fired immediately.

Extremely funny that all of Stancil's haters actually have zero clue what the ideas he actually expresses are, and just make assumptions from what their dipshit friends tell them. Which is a demonstration of like, the core tenet of Stancilism!

HERE’S THE THING, SENATE DEMS:

This morning you had leverage.

Now you have none.

What did you get for it? And if the answer is “nothing,” why is it gone? Where did it go?

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

🚮
My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Not hard to understand what motivates Senate Democrats: they dislike controversy, they really enjoy being important, so faced with conflict they find the quickest route to making it go away so they can continue being important. And usually the easiest way to make a conflict go away is to lose it.

A President who detains a protestor and revokes their legal status can only be called one thing:

A dictator.

Silencing dissent is unlawful, unjust, and authoritarian through and through.

The impending Trump sell-out of Ukraine has no basis in any genuine US interest. Pro-Trump foreign-policy "realism" (so called) is a corrupt exercise in confecting excuses for a disgrace and disaster based entirely on the shadowy and sinister Trump-Putin connection.
