This month in 1959 in LA the Cooper’s Do-Nuts uprising occurred, this would one of many events that would spark the beginning of the Gay Liberation Movement. Although disputed, this was a very real event.

I had an appointment this month for my vocal surgery, I waited over a year for it. But due to the VA removing coverage for gender affirming care for those diagnosed with gender dysphoria, they canceled it the day before because. I lost all of my referrals too. So I have to start the process over.

As a veteran and Transfemme who strictly uses VA healthcare for my PCP, HRT and also VA education benefits, this is direct violence against my community and myself. I’m constantly on the phone trying to circumvent losing access to benefits and it has taken quite an emotional toll.
