there are, but the "why" is gonna inform what made them choose this weird way of doing it. could be that some other service had no easy way to tap in and needed to be setup for some deadline, then never got fixed cause its a scary death pit now

thats the thing, you went to a place to just hang out and be yourself. a lot of these linked-in types just think of online dating as focused dating apps (which rarely work) and being fake in order to market oneself
