The delight is in the finding out.

Inveterate traveler, incorrigible animal rescuer, English teacher by trade. Mostly lurking/liking here. All photos by me unless otherwise stated.
Waiting for the game.

I have another #BirdOfTheDay 😊 Closeup #portrait of a palm cockatoo.

I thought his beak was broken until looking up what this bird was, and they all look kind of like this. Doesn't seem like a good design. He was friendly, though - at a bird sanctuary in Indonesia.

What the heck, here's another #cat in a frame for #Stunday - looks fake thanks to the same old phone camera and dirty windows, but it was really a beautiful sunrise.

Beach and landscape, framed in driftwood. Notes say this was near Vancouver, or possibly on Vancouver Island, 20+ years ago, and long before I had a decent camera or any idea how to take photos.

Mixed-use development through the frames of a glass ceiling. Upper floors of a mall on the left, offices on the right, residences in the skyscraper above.

99% sure this is Jakarta, but the shapes and colors could as easily be in Shanghai or Singapore.

It looks old, but it's actually a film set from the massive Ningxia Zhenbeibao West Movie City. If you've ever seen a Chinese period film or TV show, from any time period, it was probably at least partly filmed here.

Kind of a stretch, but here's the frame of the roof of a yurt (framed yurt?), with bonus blue sky. From a kid's camp in Inner Mongolia, where they learned to put one up.

I have loads and loads of blurry bird pics 🙃 Here are #blurred seagulls squabbling over a clam over a Cape Cod beach. They drop them on the rocks to break the shells open, so this squabble will continue for a while.

Twisty branches in #silhouette in #sunshine. Probably in Zambia.

"Silhouette" derived from Étienne de Silhouette, a French finance minister known for austere economic policies. I always thought the name came from an artist. Who knew?

City streetside parking space on tarmac*.

Short for tar-macadam, from tar + McAdam, the guy who developed "macadamized pavement." I love etymology 😀

*Maybe asphalt - they seem to be interchangeable here.

A few seconds of #bedlam. They can do this for an hour at a time.

After Bethlem Royal Hospital, the psychiatric hospital from back when insane asylums were not great places to be. ALT in comments.

#flora is an ancient Roman goddess of spring and flowers - I must have known the origins of it, but it still gave me a happy surprise on discovering it for this challenge. These #flowers came into bloom a couple of weeks ago on my school campus.

The bat logo a Bacardi bottle. Turns out Bacardi was founded by Don Facundo Bacardí i Massó, and there's story behind the bat (in ALT). The more you know.

Dramatic rainy season skies over the equally dramatic Monumen Nasional (MONAS) in Jakarta. It always looked to me like a fist raised to the sky - moving, if you know about Indonesian history.
