I don't even know. I was supposed to go to Shanghai for a year, then was supposed to go back to Jakarta.

Hong Kong Chinese (Cantonese, traditional, I think?) is at least a tone or two more complicated than Simplified Chinese (Mandarin, which I can't pronounce in a way that anyone in Shanghai understands what I say.) It's learnable, in slivers.

Speaking is kind of easy, and is much easier than English grammar-wise 😂 Reading and writing, though...oof.

It looks so simple, but reading (and writing) Chinese is really, really hard, linguistically, and musically 🙃
