which doesn’t have to have a concrete answer IMO, just an emergent feature of the forces around the island where certain numbers sort of align. Something deeper to it. But I’m cool with that being left unexplained, it’s like explaining midichlorians

They were sort of an obsession within the Dharma initiative. Their “true” motivation was the equation parameters, but personnel used it for the hatch password and stamped it on the hatch too. The numbers were broadcast by radio and would be monitored on the mainland

1) I’m going to spend an hour or two tonight just thinking about what you said about the possibility of that “hyper” empathy idea.

2) That last post feels like a cliffhanger or a major plot twist and I actually got chills. What an idea.

It’s observing, listening, and developing a sense of understanding of how someone thinks and feels and perceives the world. Really stepping into their shoes not with your own superficial glib version of what you think they’re like but with respect for them as a person

Great way to learn a language—read the children’s and young adult literature, same as we did with English growing up. Even better if you have a kindle and a built in dictionary (in the native language). The learning curve is more approachable and easier to stick with it
