I spoke to the trans woman who was assaulted at Barton Springs in Austin this weekend.

Despite everything, she said that the bystander who stepped in and the support she's gotten makes her believe Austin is "a safe space for people like me."

There are many reasons why citing the Cass Review is inappropriate--chiefly that nationalized medical care is so different than our own.

But, as I have reported, and researchers have pointed out, the Cass Review has some key red flags:

There were no arrests, no tagging and no windows broken at today's protest in Houston. I didn't see any even vague tense confrontations or exchanges with police.

After 2.5 years in LA, it's wild to see how much calmer Houston police are than LASD/LAPD.

Texas SB12 is being hammered out in conference committee. It includes:

- A "Don't Say Gay" style prohibition on teaching gender / sexual orientation in K-12 schools
-Requires schools to stop teachers from "aiding" social transitions, parents can report violators
-Ban on Gay Straight Alliances
Those are the portions I highlighted; I can send you the full report but unfortunately their pdf is not searchable.
