A saintly holy priest character would be more compelling if they gradually lost their faith but begrudgingly retained their powers to help the people hurt by their religion. Like sending angels out as attack dogs to wandering missionaries or something.

I love the idea that dragons are intelligent enough for architecture, carving brick lines into walls, melting smoother surfaces with fire breath, burrowing sprawling dungeons, all to trap, confuse, and deter adventurers from looting the dragon's eggs and supplies.
