The complete, month-long tribute to Jeff Coulter. Thanks Phil, for making some of Jeff's extraordinary writings available to a broader readership

Today I posted the 31st & final entry in a thread commemorating the work of Jeff Coulter, following his death in April. While not an exhaustive list, I hope it offers a sense of Jeff’s distinctive contribution, combining Rylean OLP with EMCA.

The complete thread is here: bsky.app/hashtag/Jeff...

😣 I would have loved this. Sitting in a library for 3 days with nothing to do but read and write? Pesky eligibility criteria ...

Thanks Emmet but I can't take credit for a team effort - with marvellous contributors. They all pulled through despite a Pandemic @lindwall.bsky.social

Manny Schegloff's obituary, written by John Heritage, late in the year, made an impact and continues to be widely viewed.

Made a thread of this, so it's easier to read

I moved from philosophy to psychology in 2018. In philosophy these kinds of arguments & debates are what you're trained for & do. It was a culture shock when I arrived in a psych dept. Critique, debate & argument were depicted as rude & undermining.

A few thoughts on academic civility, the paradigm ceasefire, and the challenge posed to critical social psychology by the misdiagnosis of the replicability crisis.

Based on the idea that the Harré quote below would be seen as terribly poor form if uttered by a prominent social psychologist today.

Hear hear. Such a tragic loss of talent, please pass on my heartfelt best wishes to anyone involved. Take care
