The next city council will have the opportunity to show that they support a reliable and well maintained transit system by unlocking all $16.4 million dollars available to Edmonton by dedicating matching funds during the Fall Supplemental Capital Budget Adjustment.
etriders.bsky.social
We need to keep transit riders comfortable, and ensure the efficient operations of our transit system in the face of quickly growing ridership and population.

The funds made available through the Canada Public Transit Fund Baseline Funding Stream are a great way to help us keep up and improve the transit experience.

How the federal government funds public transit has changed with the Canada Public Transit Fund.

The Baseline stream funding could unlock $16.4 million every single year for upgrading and maintaining Edmonton's transit system.

Today I attended A City for Life: Rethinking Mobility with Inclusive Policies by @pathsforpeople.bsky.social @etriders.bsky.social

Not everyone drives and our city needs to reflect that.
As a non-driver myself, I'm committed to ensure this experience is always in city decisions!

We had a great time today talking with transit riders outside of the Old Strathcona Farmers Market!

There was a lot of excitement for the city’s BRT plans, ideas for improvements to communications and wayfinding, and discussion on fare payment changes.

Vulnerable individuals I work with don't have cars, but have needs: shopping, attending appointments, visiting children, etc. Many use buses, many depend on bicycles, e-scooters, skateboards, and yes, even shopping carts. They want to be safe as much as you and I. #abpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

By investing in rebuilding the Coliseum LRT station and transit centre, we prepare the area for the thousands of new residents that will come to the community in the coming years, and support the thousands of transit riders who rely on Coliseum area transit to go about their regular lives.
redesigning these spaces will mean more comfortable trips for the thousands of Edmontonians who currently live around the station, and the thousands more who will in the coming years
etriders.bsky.social
This week council will discuss how to spend it's matching funds with the provincial government in the demolition and remediation of the Coliseum site, and this includes transportation infrastructure.
tomorrow city council will discuss how $35 million is spend on site preparation and transportation, and we think part of this money should go towards transit!
etriders.bsky.social
Whether it's dark corridors, tight corners, or the underground concourse, this LRT station does not reflect how we should be building in the 21st century.
coliseum station's design includes dark spots and unclear sightlines, but it can be so much better redesigning stadium station improved safety and supported the growing neighbourhood
