A cheap, easy but highly effective way to purify air from smoke or viruses within a room is a Corsi-Rosenthal Box. All items & materials can be stored away & assembled to make a CR box in only a few minutes. Preferred rating of Merv 13 & thickness of 2 inches for the filters for optimal protection.

Even after a fire has been extinguished, nasty stuff will still linger in the air and more will be kicked up as you walk and clean through an area.

These next photos are some additional references. First is the differences between the colored respirator filters and what they protect against. The second picture is the recommended protection to wear if you were to go back and search through burned out residential or commercial areas.

To protect my eyes I bought 3M anti-fog safety goggles (WF C) that provide a complete seal. These were on the same shelf next to the painters respirator at Home Depot.

Replacement filter cartridges (WF B) that best protect are model 60926 magenta olive. I bought a couple pairs to keep w/ my mask & have them grouped together in a bag ready to be taken in a moment’s notice. I purchased at industrialsafetyproducts.com/3m-60926-multi-gas-vapor-cartridge-filter-p100/

I bought a 3M painters respirator (WF A) on sale at my local Home Depot. The filter cartridges that come with it won’t be good enough to protect from the dangers of wildfire smoke so I had to upgrade those.

After seeing the toxic smoke from the Palisades Fire that people experienced, I wanted to ensure my lungs and eyes were protected if I was ever in the same scenario. Wildfires ripping through human developed areas put all kinds of gases, oils, metals, and other chemicals into the air.

MaskD is ElastoMaskPro. I bought one online with extra filters and interested in trying it out & giving it a review when it arrives. It uses replacement filter pucks that insert from the inside. They can be bought at reusable-respirators.com & there’s a sale on the masks to the end of January.

Mask C cont - Masks are shipped from within the US but I’ve found it is easier to buy and ship through the UK web store where items are more readily in stock. They have a great anniversary sale going on. cambridgemask.com/collections/all/products/basic-mask-black?variant=43132200419520

Mask C is my primary that provides N95 protection. They are hand wash/reusable, lasting 90 hours of use, & very comfortable with adjustable ear/head straps. They are made by Cambridge Mask Company in the UK. The masks are sold with/out a valve, different sizes XS to XL, and in different patterns.

Mask B is style of KN95, most widely worn mask in public places. KN95s normally come in a one size fits all with mods needed for people who have large/small heads. I have it as my secondary cause of my big, fat head ear loops painfully dig into my ears while I mask at work for 8+ hours.

Mask A is simple, 3 layer medical disposables. I keep them on me or in my car in case a primary or secondary mask gets dirty, a strap breaks, running into a gas station to pay for gas etc. or wear doubled up for more relaxed wearing when around others who’ve also been regularly masking.
