Brian Wilson was one of THE great musical pop minds. RIP, and thanks for giving us these wonderfully creative and emotional songs.

Why Newsnight keeps inviting Sebastian Gorka on is beyond me. One of the most vile and arrogant people I've had the misfortune to have to listen to. #fuckamerica

This wine and spirits tariff is the funniest yet from Trump. Damn, no more Zinfandel so I'll have to make do with a fine Rioja or Chianti No Jack Daniels? We've got Penderyn in Wales, and multiple single malts from Scotland and Ireland, you myopic idiot. And by the way you can't produce champagne.

I can't remember such hegemonic power being displayed in my lifetime. FFS Stand up and against Trump.

Watching all this propaganda from the US regarding their "plan" for Gaza should really make us understand Hamas as resistance, despite what our media tell us.

European governments had ample opportunities to sanction Russia since 2016 but chose not to due to energy dependence. If we had done so and taken a financial hit while building a sustainsble energy supply we'd be in a much stronger position. Trump and Putin have been given an Ace card with this.

I can't believe that what sounded like an inconsidered, flippant remark from an unsound mind, has now spiralled into potentially the final stage of an ethnic cleansing that's gone on for decades.

Mandeslon is an absolute disgrace. The desperation of the fearful realisation of the fragility of late capitalism.
February 10, 2025 at 11:59 PM
We should really look and listen to history if we want to understand now and stand up to it.

So the US is taking over Gaza. An invasion of a pre-destroyed piece of land. Convenient Fascism.
February 5, 2025 at 12:18 AM
Netanyahu is now also describing the burning of babies which has been verified as false. We're truly fucked.
February 5, 2025 at 12:07 AM
"An economic development transaction" and Gaza "an unlucky place". "We'll own the Gaza strip". This is Fascism - one global actor forcing an ideology on another. Let's call Trump's words out for what they are - the ramblings of a calculating nutter filled with falsities and delusions of grandeur.
February 5, 2025 at 12:04 AM
Trump's words about Gaza are truly disgraceful. Long suspected that ethnic cleansing was Netanyahu's end game and always ask the question of how much he orchestrated all of this.

Very interesting interview with Mark Carney on Newsnight. Should he become Canadian PM, there could be a real way forward for UK and EU to counter Trump.

Mandeslon called Trump out correctly in 2019, and today has spinelessly apologised. Rereading bell hooks at the moment, and 'All about love' seems more relevant today than when it was written 25 years ago. An ethic of care and love is the antithesis of the dominant patriarchy that has now resurfaced

This "clean out Gaza" is Trump playing this weird card of chaos which he does so well. Are his words considered or are they the ramblings of a lunatic? Either way a foreign power advocating a strategic ethnic cleansing should be brought up before the UN who should have the guts to stand up to him.

So, all the coffee I'll buy from now on will be Colombian. The first example of Trump's spoilt child playground tariffs, and everyone should take Colombia's reaction as a blueprint. Tariff us, and we'll tariff all the shit you send us.
January 26, 2025 at 10:20 PM
So BBC News has had to declare 4 Trump untruths in the last 20 minutes. Without rigourous checking of all the shit that comes out of his mouth, we'll soon be in a situation where half the world will believe everything he says in that manically convinced of common sense tone of voice he adopts.

'La terra trema' has always been a legendary film I never had access to, but it's now on BFI player and I can't think of a film from the 1940s more relevant to the world today. A truly groundbreaking film. #visconti #antifa #cinema #socialism

Surely Fujitsu should have been properly brought to account by the government and forced to pay the compensation to the Post Office submasters. These massive corporations are playing with governments.

So I've moved here due to my growing disgust with the pernicious actions of Musk, Zuckerberg, et al, as I'm sure many have. As an introduction, this little piece was finished last month.
