Airpower enjoyer.
Right. It's the same problem with the "Democracy's at threat" argument. It's both true and normie voters just did not give a fuck about it, either because they couldn't see it, didn't believe it, or were concerned about other stuff. This dude did Jan 6 and a plurality of voters said "eh, fine."

The shutdown had no direct method to restore funding, only hopes that indirect pressure might work, and was always a gamble, and always had other consequences. You're right to be pissed, and it's a travesty that we're going to let 51k Americans potentially die because the GOP hates Obamacare.
November 11, 2025 at 3:35 AM
But those 51k people are not at risk because the Dems stopped supporting a shutdown. They're at risk because, even with defections, the Senate passed a bill that said "we're getting rid of those" in July.

4. A bunch of us are feds missing paychecks who at this point are starting to deal with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs at a more immediate level than "thoughts on political maneuvering and poll numbers." You seemed to totally miss that context.
November 11, 2025 at 3:27 AM
2. That's the aforementioned poor strategy. The one we're complaining about in this thread. The one Mike posted about at the outset of this.
3. Dems didn't kill the subsidies, the Republican majority did. The shutdown is not a magical button that can reverse that
November 11, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Nobody knows what answers you want. You barged into this thread, said "Schumer doesn't care about you," a statement nobody here was disputing, and then said you thought the shutdown would lead to ACA subsidies renewal, ignoring that:
1. That was a gamble at best
November 11, 2025 at 3:27 AM
Bsky poster unsure if 53 greater than or less than 47, believes Shutdown may hold answer to complicated math problem.
November 11, 2025 at 3:14 AM
There is something about either Schumer, lib brain, or both, that just allows people to assume any possible problem or failing that touches him is somehow originating from and even possibly exclusive to him, as opposed to "that's how the Senate works bud" which seems to be an unacceptable thought.
November 11, 2025 at 3:11 AM
I THINK that if you TALK with WORDS CAPITALIZED it is DIFFICULT to take you SERIOUSLY because you WRITE like MAD LIBS.
November 11, 2025 at 2:56 AM
A bunch of these poasters like the idea of fighting more than they do a winning strategy, and man, has that shown through in the past 24 hours.
November 10, 2025 at 9:41 PM
This is what's enraged me over the past day. I'm fine with "hey man, don't get a paycheck, because we need X" but it's a hard sell for "hey, to hell with your livelihood, don't you know we can drive poll numbers down in December 2025 for a November 2026 election?" Callous amateurism.
November 10, 2025 at 9:36 PM
It's the People's Front of Judea bit reenacted without a shred of awareness to near perfection, a truly staggering level of political incompetence, destined to never self correct.
November 10, 2025 at 6:07 PM
Of all the dumb, pointless fights in the past 24 hours, this dude came jousting at you over "can we all get behind water is wet?"

The lib/left mind never fails to astonish.
November 10, 2025 at 6:01 PM
The Trump-Paul Nexus remains undefeated. What appealed most to these folks about the small government argument was how friendly it was to cranks and psychos. Now that Trump does that, why even bother with appearing to care about civil liberties?

"You used to have to leave your house to buy a video game, there was no guarantee the store you went to would have it in stock, and if they didn't pick up the phone, the only way to find out was to go to that specific store, and..."

2025 is much better than 1995. Even with everything going on.
November 10, 2025 at 5:50 PM
This is what I mean when I say the libdoomer mentality is ruining us. It assumes the other guys are cohesive and capable, and assumes their problems are all going to melt away because... The minority Senate party passed a budget.
November 10, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Yeah it's really baffling to hear polls quoted as the best reason to continue a shutdown when the GOP approval and Trump's specifically has just been different shades of lousy since April. These guys love walking into rakes, I'm not sold we need to skip paying the CDC for that.
November 10, 2025 at 5:23 PM
It took me 3 full minutes to remember that American Eagle was ever even briefly a controversy here.
November 10, 2025 at 5:21 PM
It's a statement, not a question, the punctuation should be a dead giveaway on that, but with your overall poor judgement I'm not surprised you missed that. I'm not dealing with a casual that doesn't understand what a question mark looks like.
November 10, 2025 at 5:03 PM
It's like watching the last team in the league and unironically thinking your local high school coach could do better.
November 10, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Or are you sitting on secret stats from elections past that proves "the other guys ruined last year's holidays" is the secret sauce the Dems have been missing?
November 10, 2025 at 4:52 PM
It's a reply as serious as your strategy. You think the best way to collapse poll numbers for a Nov 2026 election is to ruin Christmas 2025, and you're wagering 2 million fed workers plus more contractors' livelihoods on that. Wagering on wishcasting is amateur hour.
