Awful to hear. A big part of the draw of service academies is the quality education there.

1. It's bad that Dems are caving and ending the shutdown with so little to show for it
2. With senate and house minorities, a little is all you ever get from a shutdown
3. I doubt the median voter is going to be stoked about Trump because the shutdown ends

I get that it's easy to continuously hate Senate Dems for not delivering X, Y, or Z, but I'm going to point out that this is yet again people on the internet really being mad that the Dems do not control any branch of government. You can't run the government from a Senate minority.

I think a large part of lib doomerism is just based on "I'm angry and in despair and rather than process this I'm going to claim it's serious analysis" and man, it is not. Everybody feels things! That's fine! But confusing feelings for "I've run the numbers" is a huge red flag in basic judgment.
