The last 24 hours I lurked on Twitter more than anytime since I quit it, and one thing dawned on me - I think there are a lot of libs who actually just enjoy "the fight" .. there is something cathartic about dunking or replying to a conservative making a dumb point, and you obviously lose that here
Wtf...?

Republicans straight up given up trying to win the midterms and just hoping the structural advantages carry them in the Senate

There are basically a zillion moderate or generic Dems who would perform similarly in a primary but aside from AOC, who would even be a candidate Bluesky lefties would like? It's probably just Van Hollen?

I don't think we're going to get some random candidate tbh, Dem voters are extremely institutional and risk averse. It doesn't have to be someone listed here but even Obama became a "star" by this point in his run.
Democratic Presidential Polling:

🔵 Harris 34%
🔵 Newsom 20%
🔵 Shapiro 10%
🔵 Buttigieg 10%
🔵 AOC 7%
🔵 Booker 6%
🔵 Moore 3%

It's getting really infuriating how many people are getting everything beyond their wildest dreams out of the Trump administration and they want us to think that they're disappointed

A weird genre of posting especially in term 1 was sympathy towards Melania which was ridiculous because by all accounts she seems like an extremely shitty person who also doesn't give a shit about being perceived as a shitty person

NEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.

Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.
Virginia’s New Governor Ends ICE Program. Local Contracts Remain, For Now. - Bolts
Abigail Spanberger left the 287(g) program, which empowered state law enforcement to detain immigrants. Will Democrats also bar local police and sheriffs from the program?

Seriously this guy is CONSTANTLY doing interviews. I think he wants to be president more than anyone since Nixon.
🇺🇸❗️🇪🇺 JD Vance on Europe:

The Europeans, they're so friendly in private and they're willing to make a lot of accommodations and then publicly they attack us and they say, “We're not going to work with the Americans. We're not going to do anything with the Americans.” I'm sorry. It's all bogus.

Washington Post was also going to have a huge surge in subscriptions with Trump term 2 because of the massive "resistance" niche that was going to occur and the fact that Bezos went this direction is the best evidence he'd rather see the whole paper burn than have it actual journalism

A lot of American political discourse boils down to either MAGA acting like the country is more conservative than it is or leftists acting like the country is less conservative than it is.

This manifests in frustration that the country won't go along with their agenda.

And I also have no reason to believe this will work. Short form video at the NYT, for example, typically directs you to read the articles that contain the substance of the reporting. With diminished reporting capacity, the videos will lack substance.
the fact that wapo is closing every single part of the newspaper that attracts readers in order to focus on vertical short form video and opinion columns makes it very clear that the bezos takeover isn't about business. it's not even about propaganda. it's about showing off his power and clout

They polled "do you support deporting illegal immigrants?"

and it polled at +8 in New York, on a D+27 voting intention. It was only -14 with Dems. There were lots of undecideds, but it was favorable with all racial groups as well.

Relatedly the Republican Party still has a trust advantage on the issue of immigration over the Democratic Party. Voters don't like the visible cruelty and the secret police but it's not translated into a Dem advantage on the issue.
even in New York state Trump has a positive approval on the border
